When I want to add a dvd to my collection and make a search for the title, it takes forever to write the title. Sometimes each letter takes 3 seconds to appear in the search box.
Marge: Homer, a man who called himself "you-know-who" just invited you to a secret "wink-wink" at the "you-know-what". You certainly are popular now that you've become a Stonecutter.
Homer: Oh, yeah. Beer busts, beer blasts, keggers, stein hoists, AA meetings, beer night. It's wonderful, Marge. I've never felt so accepted in all my life. These people looked deep within my soul and assigned me a number based on the order in which I joined.

Please see thread here.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

It kinda amuses me that in this digital age we have now begun to associate "forever" with "3 seconds".

Thank god that isn't me anymore. I've been a little over one year without any fast food or junk like that. And guess what? I'm still alive!!

Did you even read what he said? 3 seconds PER letter, if you type a 10-letter word to filter you're going to wait 30s for a result. That's definitely a long time. And this is still quite true for my 3.0.3 installation :/

There should be almost no delay between letters when adding by title in version 3.0.3.  Are you still seeing the same delay as earlier versions?

Maybe it's a long time in the computer world, but 30 seconds isn't all that long in the REAL world.

I'll do some tests later today and report the exact results

@kdh

It's not 30 seconds. You gotta imagine how long it takes to add >100 profiles in a row :/

That's why you get yourself a barcode scanner (a modified CueCat which costs about $3 works very well for me) and you'll be done in no time.

That really depends.

30 seconds in the dentist chair are much longer than 30 seconds of doing something rather more enjoyable.

Am I missing something?

If you have the film then just add by EAN code??

why waste time trying to find the film by title??

If the film does not exist on the DB by EAN (locality etc) then I search by name to get a basic profile to start from and modify for EAN/locality. Why redo all that work?
I would imagine that is what was originally meant, and I agree that is does take forever to search by name. Just to uncheck BluRay and HD takes forever too. Admittedly, I haven't loaded the latest version yet, so maybe that is fixed.

It is definitely slower; running the latest, XP pro with the latest updates, pleeiun 4, 3.0g
going from ordered to owned or all;
or wish list to owned or all;
clearing a filters;
adding a disc, getting the screen as definitely slower, then after you hit add a longer wait for new profile to appear.

I tried defrag disc, memory, system memory, removing any other utilities;
stopping the remote, removing the virus checker, etc. jacking up the priority.
repairing the db. removing unassigned images.
nothing helps very much.

If I hit the wrong key I can go make coffee or linch.

I have only 350 more profiles than I had under 2.5.
We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own.
