I went into the "Synchronizing with DVD profiler online" and selected download, hoping it would update existing contributions into my profile.  Now all my work has seemingly vanished.

Can I retrieve my data? How can I restore my status quo?  I've even lost my wishlist! Help!!!

Do you have a backup (he said hopefully)?

If so, try and restore from that.

If you have just started out with 3.0, and still have 2.4 on your computer, you can import your old 2.4 DB into 3.0 and then see what's up.

If you have backed up your database locally, then just go to File>Restore Database and that should restore it.

I haven't backed up anything on my computer. Is there anything I can do to retrieve the info from the invelos database before it cancels the info forever.

All i've been doing (since i'm relatively new to this game - 3.0 is all i've had) is entering the UPC to build up my database, and then I was going to add the minute details. The only details i've had is whatever came with the download, my entered purchase price and where I got them.

I fear my predicament does not look good.

I guess what you actually wanted to do was "Refresh Updated Profiles from Invelos"

As you didn't perform a backup, the data is lost and gone. Or, did you already do an "Export Profile Database" and kept the XML?

Taking the exported XML from the old version won't really help importing into the new version as their UPC's didn't include the check digits.

Been there.

But you can open it up in IE and see the title names and use that to find by name.

But you can extract the UPCs and then use the UPCs tool from Doug's site to reimport to 2.4, then back up and restore to 3.

Of course this relies on you still having access to 2.4 & the database files, as you can no longer download this due to the merge with 3.

The UPC's in the old database isn't the complete UPC - they're missing the check digits.  If the import tool requires the full UPC, it won't work.

So you missed the point about needing 2.4, importing to that, backing up and then restoring that backup to 3?

Read this thread which has the info FDr. Killpatient mentions..  It includes how to (1) download a copy of version 2.5 from Intervocative; (2) download your 2.5 "My Profiler" database from the Intervocative site; (3) backup the resulting database from 2.5; and (4) restore the 2.5 backup file into 3.0.

Just make sure you don't save your 2.5 version of Profiler in the same directory as 3.0 or you'll really bollux things up.  Hope this helps.

did you miss the bit where Golden Nimon said 3.0 was all he has ever had?

That being so, he won't be able to download anything from the old site.
