| Posted: | | | | Hi, I recently contributed new coverscans for the Space 1999 Megaset. User Rl3058 pointed out to me that the back cover wasn't straight. Now the problem is, that is isn't printed straight, so the scan is as it appears on the boxset. Now I tried to correct it a bit by photoshopping the image. So my question to you, which image do you prefer, or do I need to straighten it even a bit more?? Original Straightened | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

If it is printed crooked like that on all cases.... then I believe that is how it should be in Profiler. or If it is normally printed straight on the cases... and you just got an odd case then I think it should be in profiler as straight as it is actually supposed to be. In which case I would have to think it would be difficult for you to do. And I would personally leave it up to someone else to do the scans (at least for the online database). That is my thoughts on the basic matter at least. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Can't you compare with the other 17 disc's how the back should have been. I think it is a production error when you look at the front, that is straight: Space 1999: Megasetask the other user to provide improved cover scans of the original. | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. That is my thoughts on the basic matter at least. Couldn't have said it better myself; again I don't have it either (I got the expensive R2 Season 1 super-cleaned up one... waiting for series 2 to be done now!) so can't say which is the case (no pun intended ) | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

The seventeen discs are in 9 thinpack cases and they are all straigth. I don't know if all boxes are crooked, but I believe so, since the previous scan wasn't straigth either. | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

| Posted: | | | | OT on the subject... but I just looked at the opening credits of this series on YouTube... and it looks like it could be pretty good.
Would you all recommend a Blind Buy... I like sci-fi series... but I am not a fanatic about them. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | just looked at this a little more... went to dvdempire to see what they had. What with... 1. DVDEmpire's being crooked 2. Yours being crooked 3. the one you are trying to replace is crooked without any further information.. I would have to think that they are all crooked and that is how it should be represented in profiler. Once again... just my opinion on the matter. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | The first and second seasons are quite different in 'tone'.
The first one is quite 'British' and dark and occasionally quite odd. The second deliberately catered more to the US market and introduced a 'regular' alien and a host of (unexplained on screen, though some were explained in the original drafts of scripts) cast changes and (AIUI) more action type plots... oh, and skirts for the ladies.

| Posted: | | | | There is no such thing as a straight cover. However yours is one of the worst, cver, that one is really out of whack. (not your fault). But finding a truly straight cover is a very rare experience, i think of all my covers I have found two or three which were straight on all sides and the printing was straight as well. However, we also have users that freak out if an image is off by as little as 2 pixels. <shrugs> In this case I would try and straighten the image as much as possible.

The image editor in DVD Profiler allows to rotate the cover too, by an arbitrary angle with a precision of a tenth of a degree. | | | -- Enry |

| Posted: | | | | Ok, so I resubmitted my contribution, and straightened the back cover as best as I could. Thanks to everyone for the tips. To Pete, although this show has aged a bit, you might actually enjoy this one. I saw this on television and I seemed to remember it contained quite some horror elements. Halfway through season 1, I haven't found the horror bits yet On the other hand, the Eagle space ship (agreed, they don't always have natural flight paths), is a very original and beautiful model. So if you don't mind watching old shows, it could be fun. I know the UK version has far superior mastering, but is also very expensive. In my opinion, the megaset does look good, and for not having a 5.1 remix, since the show originally was in mono, I doubt you will get a lot of surround effects. Besides, if you buy the megaset through the "new and used" option on Amazon.com, you can pick it up for a mere 44.45$ + shipping. | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

Many fans argue over the merits of one vs. the other! I preferred the first season. As the series went on, it started to have the alien-of-the-week disease that infected so many sci-fi series (like Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea which alternated between a spy story one week and a "monter" story the other week.). I think the writers started to run out of original ideas. And they never explained where the people got all the supplies they'd have needed if the moon were knocked out of order into space. Hydroponics could only do so much... Plus, the first two seasons were the only ones that had Zenia Merton in the cast! | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges.
