Same here!

I have on numerous occasions confirmed with my insurance company that my DVDs are not counted as a 'collection' (so a single item) but as individual items ... and i emphasise we're not talking about 60 odd DVDs her just in case! (luckily for my company a 'collection' is defined as a group of items that are worth more together than apart so I'm OK).

The only up side is that because you have them profiled you can run a report printing out and adding up the total SRPs to give to the company as a proper record.

I really feel for you and let this be a lesson to us all to make sure we're covered as the worst can happen to anyone.

Some years back (December 2004) I myself had around 1100 DVDs stolen. And just months ago I got the final settlement from the insurance company after a formal complaint. So if your under insured that does not look good for the future I myself was over insured around 20% back then.

I am with Voltaire53 on this, you "should" be OK, as most of the DVDs will be treated as single items (it will be the rare box sets you may have owned that you might find a problem)

I also agree with Voltaire53 on the list of discs, after all, you can show them date purchased, place, price etc...

Wishing you the best of luck, and the hope that this never happens again to you
Signature? We don't need no stinking... hang on, this has been done... blast [oooh now in Widescreen]
Ah... well you see.... I thought I'd say something more interesting... but cannot think of anything..... oh well

That's aweful Caroline. So sorry to hear about this.

Insurance, although a necessary evil, can be your friend. I'm an apartment dweller and have renter's insurance. I'm insured for replacement value which means I'll be reimbursed for the current Retail price of each title in case of theft or loss due to fire, etc. I'm surprised at how many renters think that they are automatically insured under their landlord's insurance policy...it's scary. This is also a good reason to keep your DVDP database current. I also save my receipts, have been doing so since 2002.

I hope everything works out for you Caroline.

Ditto on all the above comments Caroline.

Hope your insurance company doesn't try to riggle out of it too much.

Sorry to hear that

But.. it makes me going to fill in all the SRP's and such, so I can print out a list to keep safe in case this happens to me too.
Unfortunately, I can't use DVDprofiler at the moment due to lack of a Windows computer.

So sorry to hear that!

Don't know what the police have instructed, but if you were here in the US I would recommend calling all the local pawn shops and other shops that buy used DVDs.  I work in one such shop and we are always happy to cooperate with the authorities and with people who have been recently burgled (and were able to reunite someone with their stolen PS3 a couple weeks ago).  I wish you the best of luck with everything!
