So, I ran that poll on gender and found it rather interesting that our forum visitors and denizens overwhelmingly report as male (by 95%!).  So I thought it might be interesting to see where we fall out for age.

This is offered in generations and you don't have to say which you are.  Yay for polls being anonymous.

Also, please don't quibble about the names and divisions.  I am aware that different divisions and names are used by different people and have tried to offer the widest variety and most divisions.  I am also aware that - especially for Gen X forward - that the dates differ widely for beginning and ending of the generations.  I am assuming we don't have any forum visitors born since 2000 or before 1900.  If I'm in error, I apologize.

Finally, I'll pony up to being part of Gen X.

Thanks for anyone who replies.

To answer some of the puzzlement/questions that have been brought up...  I guess at this point it's pretty obvious that I almost minored in sociology.

Beginning of the Boomers ... some divide the Baby Boom generation as beginning in 1940, some in 1946.  It fit better with the other generational markers for 1940, and also Mick Jagger is generally described as a Boomer and he was born in '43.

Cold Y Generation ... lumped by the Census in with Generation Y, but being considered a generational subset by some sociologists.  Basically you're old enough to have gained self-awareness before the fall of the Berlin Wall.  You still remember some part of the Cold War, and can contrast that time with the post Cold War era we're in now.

Generation Jones ... lumped by the Census in with the Boomers, but considered by a number of sociologists a separate group by cultural perspective.  According to sociologist Jonathan Pontell, Jonesers grew up with the "high expectations" of the 60's into the "unrequited reality" of the 70's; you're too young to "have enjoyed the full fruits" of the 60's but not as "hard-bitten" as Gen X.
