I use DVD Profiler on both my Win 7 PC and my Galaxy S3 phone and love it. Having my collection on my phone has proven to be very useful to me. You can get the main PC program here on this site. The Android app can be found in the Google Play Store.

I just purchased the Android version today but it will not sync with my PC version.  I am using the unregistered PC version as it suits my needs.  Do I have to purchase the full registered version for PC in order to have it sync with my Android phone?

Thanks!

No.

Do you get any error messages?
Is "Sharing" enabled on your PC-installation?
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

No error messages.  Just continues to say connecting and then times out with the message "Unable to connect. Please verify the settings and try again."  Windows firewall is open and I enabled port forwarding on my router.  Thanks for the reply.

Did you try using the IP address instead of the name of your PC in the connection settings in the Android app? You can find it at the bottom of the PC version when you have sharing enabled. For me it only works when using IP address.

Yes, I put the IP address address but no luck unfortunately.

You need to have the PC version running and you should see a line at the bottom that reads:
Shared on 'XXXXXX-PC' (X.X.X.X), port 32847: 0 connected

If you do not, then there is something not right with your sharing setup.

Once you have a connection, and the update starts, do not use the PC version while it updating.

What I meant with "Is "Sharing" enabled on your PC-installation?" is DVDProfiler (PC) menu "Tools -> Options -> Sharing". Here you'd have to enable remote access to make your collection available for your Android Device.
Please also note that DVDProfiler (PC) must be running when trying to access the database from a remote-device.

Sorry, yes sharing is enabled.  I am using the IP address and not the computer name when trying to connect.  Windows firewall is set to allow program access and port forwarding enabled on router.

Don't hate me - but did you remember to turn on Wi-Fi? (I've made that mistake a couple of times).

Then it should all be good. I suggest trying again, making sure that all is well with the network before starting the sync. I have found that the sync does not recover well, and should be restarted once all network elements are ready.

(1) Start PC, DVDP and set up sharing. Take note of IP and port.
(2) Start Wi-fi on your device, and if possible with another app, verify that you can see the PC IP address (e.g. using DLNA); alternatively verify that you can ping the device from the PC.
(3) Now start the Android app, define the database connection and then try the sync.
Thanks for your support.

Thanks to everyone for their help in getting DVD Profiler up and running on my android phone.  The problem turned out to be that my computer network was set up as a public network and not a home (private) network.  I had only authorized the program to share on a private network so the port was not opened on the router.  I changed the network to home and everything worked great!  Thanks to everyone again for their input.
