I thought I was.  He is adding a possessive to 'The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring', changing it to "My Preciousss' "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings".  In his contribution notes, he says that he is just having a little fun.  I am curious as to why he would do this.

And, as a side note, we have one user voting 'yes' for the change.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.

I will admit that I do not understand what you are saying.  It is so nonsensical, at this point I doubt anybody does.  But you did presume to speak for Ken.  Words have meaning and you claimed to know what Ken recognized.  Spin it any way you want, but that is what you wrote.

Nice try though.

You are on the list because you are insulting (not just to me) but becuase you are extremely vocal, you make so few Contributions, beyond your March Exodus (which was a WRECK and made a hash out of the Db) that it is truly pathetic. That us why you, Hal and Lopek are on my list. I find it extremely insulting for you to be vocal while doing next to NOTHING, what it tells me is that you want OTHERS to do the work while you sit back and reap the benefits of their hard work. In short, I call it LAZY.

Will you please stop measuring people based upon their contributions. It's completely irrelevant how much or how little someone contributes. Besides which, I'm quite happy with their contribution at the moment, whilst being seriously disappointed with your recent showing... which I guess puts them on an even pegging and YOU in the dog house seeing as you like to keep score. I dread to think hat might happen if other chipped in to add their votes to this league table (please don't people, this whole idea Skip has of measuring someone's worth is quite despicable).

Does this mean that YOU are now an 'inferior' member? I'd like to think not, but by your rules...

My comment was not directed at you Unicus69; I apologize for the misunderstanding.

I thought the possessive situation was clarified in the rules and didn't want this thread to become another mud-slinging fest. It makes me very uncomfortable to read people insult and degrade each other.

I have learned and laughed a lot from many people in this forum; I hope that continues.

I wonder how long it takes to be taken off the Skipper axis of evil. I have not responded to him (or directly read his posts) since the day that blocks were made available, and have been anything but vocal in recent weeks. Yet I still repeatedly see (via quotes) my name dragged through the mud.

I just find what I have read on this and a number of other topics recently to be completely pathetic. 99% of are clearly able to deal with these little anomalies with common sense, but instead we end up jumping though hoops like idiots to satisfy a tiny minority.

Cliff, I don't spin. My position is always consistent with the data. I do not try and creatre situation which invalidate data that actually appears, I might not be terribly happy with that data all the time but I am happy with position that supports the data. I did NOT come up with the Copyright title issue, I have in fact always argued against it, the title on the cover is the easiest for ALL users ALL ther time and is what we see open the shelf. Neither was it i who first suggested that we use the Copyright Office, someone else went there  and i had to go there. This sets a very dangerous precedent and one I am not pleased about. I have NEVER  seen a legitimate argument from ANYBODY to support this crap. As I said we have users who break sim-ple Rules because they do not comprehend ONE simple phrase in the Rules and the spin to attempt to support their violation, we have users, who should know better, but refuse to document their data. I am just waiting to see what the next whion of the week is. This one is not basaed on anything other than user preference, it has absolutely NO BASIS in the data, even Ken recognizes that or he would not have had to go to the lengths that he did to try and validate it in the Rules.

No worries.  I have been known to sling a little mud myself, I just didn't think I had in this case...which is why I responded with an explanation.  If I do cross the line, and make you uncomfortable, please feel free to let me know.  It is never my intent to make any user uncomfortable, but I do know it can happen.  As I said to North, in another thread, I am man enough to admit when I have screwed up.  I just don't always see it when I am in the middle of it.  A gentle nudge is always appreciated.

I demand I be paid for reading the 11 pages I have been neglecting in this thread! Such torture should be rewarded with money, or DVD's.

Anyway, the U.S. Copyright Office is speaking volumes when it comes to "The Thing".

Being that I Aced English couses in college (don't ask why I can't spell all the time)... I was always taught that there were only a few ways to determine a title.

1. Titles are contained in quotation marks.
2. Titles are set in bold face type.
3. Titles are set in italics face type.
4. Any comboniation of the above three.

Seeing the screen shot from the U.S. Ciopyright Office (thanks to Rick, or was it James, oh hell my memory is shot, it was 11 pages I looked at) lists it as John Carpenter's The Thing.

I can only draw one conclusion. John Carpenter's is not part of the title, although it does precede the title.
Signature banned: Reason out of date...

You keep threatening to stop contributing, and how much time you spend doing it, and how your time spent so far is worth $150k, how much more you do than everyone else etc etc etc

Well stop then. Big deal.

Since I've blocked Skip, I don't know the whole story. However, I do know that Skip has used the "I won't contribute" threat several times in the past.

Personally, the sooner that happens the better. With Skip gone, the number of profile and forum contributors will increase substantially since people will be allowed to express an opinion without Skip bullying them.

These forums may then return to the pleasant place they used to be, and that can only be a good thing.

PS: I'm sure Skip has replied to this, but, as I stated, I've blocked him, so I can't see it.
But I'm sure it's rude, and he probably called me a name.
