I agree with Rifter - we don't need to do it again, I started the thread not remembering the recent discussion/poll made by Richierich....

And as for being related to Gore - can't say I know I am, but you never know, Skip...

The behaviour of Trinitron explained by Skip would indicate he is Swedish though - couldn't be Norwegian - we are always well-behaved ...

Unfortunately he is most likely Finnish.

This may be a stupid question, sorry if it is.

I realize a well constructed no vote can carry a lot of weight. There are rules, How much work do we save Ken and Gerri by actually voting yes or no on a title. They have the rules available to them and some around here contribute to creating the rules. I just wonder if we would be better off having access to all titles with revisions and those in the know about a particular title could simply post a comment in an update forum for the title. Many have said a 21 yes and one no is not a guarantee and subpar revisions slip through the process. Comments could specifically address the rules. tabulation of scores seems to make people even more upset sometimes.

No, I see what you're driving at - a panel of experts, so to speak.  The only problem is that you would never get the community at large to agree on who gets to be on the panel.  It's not a bad idea, but it should be done at Ken&Gerri's level, with people of THEIR choice, and no comments beyond the current voting system from us.

You obviously have never met Trinitron.

Is that from the version of the Matrix created on Cybertron?

Did you have to expose that. Swedish would have sounded much sweeter. Isn't it enough, that they beat us in hockey.

I voted that I have to own the disk but to be honest and I am sure I am not the only one most times if a contribution says the source is the credits for cast and crew I scan for obvious typos and unless something doesn't ring true it will get a yes. Maybe I am being lazy.

No, checking everything somebody submits defeats the purpose of having a set of rules and a central database. You may as well enter the data yourself if your going to do that.

I tend to check submissions from submitters I don't recognise the first time or so then 'sense check' and vote accordingly on subsequent submissions.

I'd much rather have someone without the disc but who is conscientious voting (on things they can verify without the disc) rather than people (and there appear to be quite a few of them) with the disc who always vote Yes.

The number of times I've been the only No vote after spotting an error (in a disc I don't own) is significant and, especially outside R1 where there tend to be less voteres anyway, I think it would be better to have more eyes than less checking out releases.

FWIW changing the system would also mean a lot more checking locally as updates appear for items in Wishlists that you haven't seen for Vote before so you don't know whether you agree with them... and how many people who are voting "Ownership only" don't actually use their wishlists anyway so won't suffer the consequences of this and don't care about those who do?

Similarly are the 'must own discers' saying that if I contribute a pre-release profile and someone then makes a change to it I should't even get a chance to Vote on mods to my own submisson? Not even see it's changed? thanks for trusting me to put in the effort of the submission then saying I'm not even fit to Vote on changes to my own work...
