..and don't forget to backup twice.. One to Invelos Online for your titles held by UPC and Disc ID information., and the Other to a flash memory stick, or seperate HD drive other than your C drive., and use that backup if you should ever loose your PC by fire/theft/harddrive crash/virus/ .etc..
That Backup will contain all your personal information and notes as well as loan and watched information put in by you for each title. Even the cost of what you paid for the DVD over what the SRP is can be invaluable for insurance purposes..

Excellent idea, especially since I think that my computer is going to go in the next six months.

Good idea, the only exception I would make to this rule would be I If it si a set of TV serises Such as the complete colections of Sex and The City, Millenium, Twin Peaks or Senfield.  If  the set contains more than one Tv serise that is sold individually.

you can also use different number ranges, e.g. 1-10,000 fo movies; 10,001-20,000 for series and so on.

The  only thing that I miss about dvdspot is the title count, top lists and the ablity to look at other pepoples collections, but maybe this will be in a future up date.  Thank You dve profiler.

I'm assuming by "top lists", you're referring to the top actors, top directors, etc.  If so, check out Database Query (see the link in my signature).  It is a plug-in that adds all that and a whole lot more.  If you have questions, find the thread in the plug-in forum.
Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here.
Create fake parent profiles to organize your collection.

Thank you, that is what I was talking about.

You can look at other people's collections (assuming they visit these forums and upload their collections to My Profiler) by clicking on the "View this user's DVD collection" icon icon in the upper right corner of a post.  It's a blue icon with a film-reel on it and is just to the left of the "Reply with Quote" icon (balloon with purple background).

There's also a way to do this if you know the person's username.
The URL for your collection is: http://www.invelos.com/DVDCollection.aspx/Jericko1
Mine is http://www.invelos.com/DVDCollection.aspx/kdh1949

So if you know someone's username -- and they have uploaded their collection -- all you have to do is put that username at the end of the URL.

BUt if you don't know their username, or they haven't uploaded their collection, your out of luck.
