| Posted: | | | | I was trying to hold out for the HD versions before watching again, but couldn't do it. And guess what, my PS3 (with latest update) upscales the THX versions great. I will probably go see the 3Ds in the theater, but I have given up on them ever coming to Blu-ray. | | | Marty - Registered July 10, 2004, User since 2002. |

They're coming in 2011 on blu-ray. Check here. about the time it may come out in 3D ( or at least one of them).. New Question: ( or poll) What title would you like to see come out first in 3D? A New Hope, ,or Phantom Menace??? I'd vote for Phantom for a couple of reasons .. 1. It is the first of the story series 2. That title was definitely done in Digital to Edit .. where New Hope was digitized for the 1997 release and is not as true as its three prequels .... | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Never heard of that/them... Yes, those are the ones I am talking about. As I recall, back when Lucas changed the name of 'Star Wars' to 'Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope', he said that the Star Wars saga was going to be a set of trilogies...with the 2 droids being the constant. After he finished Jedi, he changed his tune, stating that it would take too long to make them all. If he had spent all that time an money, that he spent tinkering with the originals, on the sequels, he would have been done by now. I mean, if WB can give us 8 Harry Potter films in 9 years, Lucas could have given us 6. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. Fox even gave Lucas the rights to merchandise. You can take that as a statement of how much faith they had in it's future. |

You can take that as a statement of how much faith they had in it's future. That's not entirely accurate. Fox felt they weren't paying George Lucas enough for his work on Star Wars, and offered him a raise. He requested the merchandising rights in stead. Since profit from merchandising in those days wasn't spectacular, Fox felt they made a good deal. Of course, that all changed overnight... | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

Of course, that all changed overnight... They still thought Star Warts wasn't going to be big hit though. |

You can take that as a statement of how much faith they had in it's future. You are correct, nobody thought that Star Wars was going to be a hit as no Sci-Fi film at that time was, but that doesn't change the fact that Lucas envisioned it as a serial series. Once it was a hit, as I said above, Lucas changed the name and gave it an episodic title. There had always been a basic plot line for 9 films, but he actually promised to make 12...and you don't have to take my word for it. From Time Magazine, Mar. 06, 1978: "Anticipating his share, an estimated $80 million, Lucas has set up four corporations: Star Wars Corp. will make Star Wars II and the ten, count 'em, ten other planned sequels" "Lucas said when he was making Star Wars that he was giving up directing, and, true to his word, SWII will be directed by Irvin Kershner (The Flim Flam Man and Raid on Entebbe). "But I've always thought," he says, "that sooner or later, somewhere down the road, I will go back and do another one. But it will be toward the end of the cycle, about 20 years from now." Would you believe 2001?" | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. Despite what Lucas says now, you can't convince me that he planned Darth Vader being Princess Leah's father when he shot the interrogation scene in the original Star Wars. | | | My Home Theater |

Perhaps you could elaborate on this. Vader did not know she was his daughter until later in the saga. | | | Hal |

Well, we don't really know if he felt anything or not, do we? Since he didn't know he had a daughter, even if he did feel "something", I would not expect him to divine that she is his daughter. That, to me, would be pretty far-fetched. | | | Hal |
