Don't know why, but this gave me a chuckle...

Reading it a 2nd time, it does read kinda funny.
My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT.
FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that.
Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it!

On "Cleaner" I can have a look tomorrow.

Cleaner (4049834001889, locality: Germany)
LUIS GUZMÀN -> Luis Guzmàn

I don't think this will get the most credited form with that accent.

Edit: the above credit is from the end credits of the movie. At movie beginning, it's a bit tricky to see, but there it is Luis Guzmán. (with the other accent)

In fact it is obvious that Luis Guzmán is the common name. Most of Luis Guzman given here are incorrect transcriptions of LUIS GUZMAN, against contribution rules that ask to use standard capitalization rules (plural gives clearly what has to be done). I know that there is an Invelos capitalization rule that is hidden somewhere among thousands of pages of those forums, but contribution rules, though recently updated, never took that in account. Of course, a change of Luis Guzmán to Luis Guzman when credit is LUIS GUZMAN would be a violation of rules and should be voted NO.

Nöööd.    Not again.

We enter what we see: No matter if it is Luis Guzman, LUIS GUZMAN, LUIZ GUZMÁN, Luis Gusmàn, luis gussmann ...
With accent, without accent, with wrong accent, with typos, ...

I would suggest to open a new thread if you want to have discussed this again.

The problem is that is against contributions rules that do not say that. People here read posts, but forget to read rules...

The only thing that trumps the rules is Ken & Gerri's statements in the forums. And Ken made his clarification.

Where is this written in rules ?
If people read rules and nothing else, and contribute per the rules, they are OK. And if they vote NO to a modification taking in account an hidden clarification they don't know since it's not in the rules, they are OK.

Do like we always do... vote no with explanation. And if they still don;t understand point to the clarification. Is it perfect? No. But until Ken decides he wants to put the clarification in the rules that is how we are to do it. I would think once it Ken sees it as causing a big enough problem he will put it in the rules. Just like he did with the stuff in the last update.

We have a system with thousands of contributors, where probably less than 100 know what Ken posted more than two years ago. The result is that quite none of actors with accented names link correctly.

People who disagree with me can try to find actors with accented names that don't have at least two variants.

What can I tell you... it is what we have to work with. Here Ken and Gerri's statements is law. And if they want to handle it the way they have been then that is their choice. All we can do is abide by what they say for contributions and votes.
