Quote: Well of course .. I say it again .. if there was no Star wars .. we would only have Dark Star ( as the only film of that type of genre) .... without Lucas.. ( and what a stinker of a movie) .. Are you saying Dark Star is a stinker...? Not fair, considering the immensely lower budget and that the movie is more of a spoof on 2001 than in the same ball park as Star Wars. It started out as a student film (John Carpenter's, for those who don't know) and then became a feature later on.
Gotta love tha beach-ball alien and a bomb that philosophizes about the meaning of it's "life" Compared to films like Repulsion, A Boy And His Dog or Taxi Driver. It's a hardly stunning achievement of low budget film making. |

Repulsion was made three years after Polanski's first feature film. A Boy and His Dog was based on an award-winning Harlan Ellison story and was directed by a man who had appeared and directed films starting in the mid-1950s. Taxi Driver was directed by Martin Scorsese, who had been making films since 1963 and features since 1967. When you are a college student and your biggest name star (in your first film) is an adman who created the KGB (San Diego) Chicken, Dark Star is a fine film, with ideas rivaling the best SF on film. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

| Posted: | | | | I got yesterday my copy of the Saga on blu-rays. I already watched episodes 4-6, and had a quick glance at the other three movies. I'm amazed by the quality of images, and found the image consistency of the whole saga even better than it was in the DVD releases. I noticed some corrections and found no annoying change (even the "Noooo" in episode 6 that I would probably not have noticed without this thread...) . Those blu-rays are among the best in quality in my collection. Thanks to Lucas for this great job, we have really more than a simple transfer to another media, as I saw with many other movies. | | | Images from movies |

I think if I were to write a book that has become popular, and years later I revisit the material and want to change a few things for the reprint, I also wouldn't care what fans have to say. Because in the end, it's my story, it's my creation and I'm free to change it how I see fit, even if it's to the detriment of sales.
Not saying I think it's a great idea of him to make all those changes, just saying that in the end, a creator is free to change his creation as he sees fit. Would you feel the same if the architect came and made alterations to your house? Actually, on occasions, architects do become involved/interfere with alterations like paint jobs... | | | Hans |

| Posted: | | | | I know the majority of people are very upset that he won't release the original theatrical versions and he keeps altering them. I truly understand the meaning of the word purist.
But, I am so excited about tomorrow, I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to this weekend. | | | Marty - Registered July 10, 2004, User since 2002. |

But, I am so excited about tomorrow, I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to this weekend. And I'm so happy to read that Steven Spielberg regrets his one time fault E.T. 2002. So no digital altered Raiders of the Lost Ark, but the original. No CGI great white shark in Jaws. Thank you, Steven. You have the spirit of a true filmmaker. | | | Don't confuse while the film is playing with when the film is played. [Ken Cole, DVD Profiler Architect] |

Ewoks are on meth, R2D2 has a dildo (seriously, what else is it?) and has turned into a mobile Swiss Army knife, rocks appear from nowhere, and Seboca is hanging with Jabba.
Some are good corrections, but more tinkering than fixing IMHO. Looks like Fox or Lucas got word of this site, the whole thing is gone. |

Looks like Fox or Lucas got word of this site, the whole thing is gone. They were probably ordered to take it down because the name www.milleniumfalcon.com is owned by LucasFilms, LTD and if you enter that into your Browser's address bar you are redirected to Starwars.com. The site where those images were posted was named www.millenniumfalcon.com and was probably too close to the site name owned by Lucas. | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

| Posted: | | | | I have watched IV, V, VI, I and II. So far, I am thoroughly pleased with the overall transfer, especially the sound track. The only objection I have is the Noooooo! The scene was much more powerful without anything being said.
I feel really bad for the purists, as you will not be able to enjoy the transfer to Blu-ray. Hopefully enough pressure will be brought to bear that Lucas will cave and give you your theatrical versions. | | | Marty - Registered July 10, 2004, User since 2002. |

Hopefully enough pressure will be brought to bear that Lucas will cave and give you your theatrical versions. He already stated that it would cost to much to do. Which is debatable even to a layman on the subject. Or if what he meant to say was that it will cost to much to justify the cost, from a business standpoint. Cause only a small die hard section of the fan base who would be interested. That's why he released the theatrical versions on a limited edition DVD. And they where not even remastered for DVD. So unless old George changes his changing ways, and has a new found affinity for his originals. And releases them in some very high priced limited edition box set or sets. Then the originals will rot away in some storage facility somewhere. Never getting the full treatment they truly deserve, given there cultural and historical cinematic significance. Im sorry but Georges films or not, till he learns to respect his films as they where made at time. Then i won't given in and given him a signal penny so he can ba$tardize his films even more. |
