Quote: I'm here to point out the shortcomings of DVDP, which should be obvious.
Obvious to who? I bought a product that had a specific feature set that matched my needs. Guess what.... that feature set still meets my needs and I don't have an any unfilled requirements.
You claim there are short comings but that would be from your perspective and your requirements. That is not the case with myself or I would guess (I will not claim to know) also the case with many here.
Quote: I understand that you people are not liking the fact that I'm the bearer of bad news, but look around; I'm speaking the truth here.
It appears more like you are saying what you want/think and are upset that people do not agree fully with you. Again, WHY strain yourself to come up with these LAME attempts in speculating why I'm doing what I'm doing instead of focusing on the subject at hand, which is the increasingly outdatedness of DVDP? You like using the product, fine. But for how long?? The forum is dying and new customers are non-existent. How long realistically do you think Ken can keep this up before you people start to realize that if the product stays unchanged it will be useful to fewer and fewer people until Ken can no longer support it? I am the evidence of someone who was once a fan of the product but no longer uses it, and I'm sure there are other people like me. |

Perhaps all your concerns should be put into a PM addressed to Ken so he can be made aware of the issues that trouble you. --------------- |

I'm surprised I need to go to such extent to point out something so obvious. You are still making assumptions as to usage. I could easily say that smartphones and phablets outsell bigger devices because people are addicted to social media. Is that a fact? Well, it's as much a fact as anything you have posted so far. As long as you continue to speculate and assume, this is not a legitimate discussion. I'm sorry, but it isn't. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. Can you actually USE the product first before saying anything so you would sound less of an idiot? I've been using it for 10 years now. For companies with fewer than 25 employess (and that's true for MANY companies), that's more than adequate. You're funny, I have not much more to say. I wish nothing but the best for your Access experiments. Maybe in next course they will tell you some downsides of clouds. Good luck with your studies. |

You may, or may not be right here, the fact remains that in your initial all you did was claiming how bad and outdated DVDProfiler is. Quoting movie_madness: Quote: I mentioned this in an old thread about 2 years ago, where I said DVDP's inadequacies caused me to take matters into my own hands by creating my own movie database.
And that I did. Here are some sample pages of my database that you can check out by logging on [...] All these reasons are why I took matters into my own hand. I can design my database in any way I want (including allowing Unicode characters) and access it online as well. No word how Ken could improve the product, just one big advertisement for your product (which seems to be in a very early pre-alpha status). And guess what, the remaining users of DVDProfiler are NOT impressed by your idea. I'm quite sure that calling potential, even though somewhat skeptic, customers idiots or simpletons wasn't the best advertisement strategy either. Maybe you should post your "ideas" in the forums of a company where you can find those users that are no longer using DVDProfiler. I suggest to try Collectorz and MyMovies. Just be so kind to report back how long it took until your posts got removed. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Except that there are TONS of missing credits and blank credits in DVDP. Yes, but also tons of information that imdb doesn't have at all. Or even possibility to enter them. Quote: The movie data have to TIE IN with your collection data. And DVDP has way too many discs with incomplete movie data like cast and crew. And imdb has zero data about several fields which are DVD/Blu-ray/HD DVD related as I listed earlier. This is a db for that info. Cast & Crew is just a bonus. I admit that there's a lot of room for improvement in that sector on DVDP. Quote: It takes A LOT LONGER to enter cast and crew info than it does to enter disc info. That depends. Quote: If any disc info is missing, it only takes a few minutes to fill in. So why don't you do that? And contribute? You can't get that info from imdb. Quote: When the cast and crew are missing, I have no choice but use the plugin to import from IMDb. No choice? Quote: Face the fact that DVDP is just NEVER EVER going to have enough contributors to keep up with the ever-growing number of discs and movies. Face the fact. Imdb doesn't contain any disc info what this db is for. Is it so hard to understand? |

Ohh and I'm quite sure that this service wouldn't be hosted by jabry anymore (well, at leat not for free).
