It's close to being approved or not, so I'll wait and see what happens.

Either way, I'll resubmit it with the correct studios (minus the Inc & LTD.)

I contributed recently for Sleeping Beauty Z2, and for the studios, I see that Walt Disney Productions is correct only for 4 films, and that Sleeping Beauty is not one of these.

My question is :
How can you check the studios ?

I then looked at the film credits on my Lady and the tramp DVD, this is what I find :
Walt Disney Pictures logo (which clearly was not on the initially released film)
Distributed by Buena Vista Film Distribution Co.
Walt Disney Presents
Copyright : Walt Disney Productions

And at the end credits :
Distributed by Buena Vista Pictures Distribution

Which ones are correct ?
how to be accurate ?

Al Disney titles currently come under the Walt Disney Pictures banner, save the four mentioned, however some also are Walt Disney Productions as  you noted. Beyond it's Buena Vista HE.

You haven't answered his question though, does a copyright notice of WD Productions qualify for including that studio (maybe even in place of WD Pictures)?

That's right.
If you say that all Disney is released under Walt Disney Pictures banner, why not, but it was said somewhere (I don't remember exactly where) that we must'nt use imdb or similar internet websites, but what is written on film credits.
In that case, how can I say which studio is correct ? If Disney credits are unclear about the studio, it can be the same for other companies.
That's why I was wondering how you could determine the correct one. Is this by the copyright holder ? the "Produced By" credit ? or something else ?

In appropriate situations, BOTH WDPictures and WDProductions could be applicable. You can actually track the history of the WDC through the film credits. WD Roductions was the credit in use during the tenure of Walt's Son-in-lw as CEO, once Eisner took over everything WD Pictures, this has not YET changed with the departure of Eisner.

On Family Guy Volume 1 the following are listed.

For Season 1:
Copyright 1999 Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation
Trademark of Family Guy by Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation
Fuzzy Door Productions
20th Century Fox Television logo

For Season 2:
On Disc 4, Episode "Fore, Father":
Copyright 2000 Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation
Trademark of Family Guy by Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation
Produced at Fox Television Animation
Fuzzy Door Productions
20th Century Fox Television logo

I was going to enter in order:
Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation
Fuzzy Door Productions
20th Century Fox Television

What is the correct way to credit the studios for this release?

At the risk of being stoned to death, I'd disagree slightly.

To me, those Family Guy profiles would be:

Fuzzy Door Productions [developers of the project from a creative standpoint]
Fox Television Animation [the actual production, they do the animation & story based on the map created by the developers above]
20th Century Fox Television

Copyright has nothing to do with an actual production, this is just from a legal standpoint. Fox holds the copyright, it just happens to lie within the Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation legal department.

But this is just IMHO, of course.

War & Peace [1956]

In the opening credits it list the production company as 'Ponti De Laurentiis Production'

Now do I list it as:

a) Ponti De Laurentiis Production
b) Ponti De Laurentiis
c) Dino De Laurentiis Company

DDLC official Website: http://www.ddlc.net/filmography.html

I would think (c)?

Why would you go for C, richie. It's not on the film credits. Because his name is DeLaurentis you assume he is affiliated with C. Bad assumption. B appears to be the best answer. I wonder why it is listed in relation to the website...but they aren't credited on the film itself. UNLESS they are listed with Copyright data.

Did you even look at the provided link Skip. It clearly shows this as a DDLC Production.

I agree, I would use c)

Well, technically DDLC (formerly known as DEG - DeLaurentiis Entertainment Group) wasn't established until 1983, as their own website states, so this is clearly not a DDLC production, at least from the original 1956 copyright.

However, it IS possible DDLC reclaimed that copyright later in the 90's and it is now part of them. But I'm just speculating. I'd say a filmography of the head of DDLC is not sufficient proof that this film has become part of their archives; the filmography is just stating that DeLaurentiis was involved with the production but is not claiming that the company was involved at all.

I would think back in the 50's, DeLaurentiis was just another independent producer, sure, a powerful one, the same with Carlo Ponti.

Personally, I would go with B.

I did know he was affiliated with B, it was not an assumption. He started the production company with Carlo Ponti.

With the benefit of hindsight I couldn't disagree with B, nor would I with C as it is clearly recorded on the official DDLC website as being one of their productions.
