Down to 3,162 profile links and still dropping.  In a few hours, they'll all be gone.

I want to thank whomever told him to take his "rubbish" with him.  You really made DVDP a better place!

Down to 174. It will only be a few minutes now. Very unfortunate really, he has been a valuable member of the community.

As of 12:23 PM PST (GMT-8), 11,242 profile links that Giga has submitted have been deleted.    29 remain and I suspect that's a error in count since it's been at 29 for 10 minutes now after steadily decreasing every few seconds for the past hour.

Giga, I know you're still reading the forums (at least for now) so I'm sure you'll read this.  I'm disappointed that you felt you had to go out this way.  It's one thing to bow out, it's another thing to take a wrecking ball to everything as you pass.  Your attack against this person who told you to "take your rubbish with you" also hurt every DVDP user.  I really hope Ken had put in safeguards against this and undoes the damage you've done.

On a positive note, corkymcg has been promoted to the #2 spot for link contributions.

What is a profile link?

Click on my name to the left of this post to view my profile.  On the right side is a list of recently bought DVDs.  Click the image of any of the bottom three.  (The top two don't have any links.)

I don't understand it!

Does he hate the whole community because somebody was mean to him?

It's a pity!

I agree, it is a shame but he made his choice so all the luck to him.

If Ken has the ability to restore forum posts, I'm sure he also has the same ability to restore the Profile Links.

Hopefully, but whether or not Ken would choose to do that is another matter. I don't really understand why Giga is choosing to do this, but I'll respect his wishes.

I've personally put a lot of work into submitting profile links, and I very rarely get any there, and if I do then 99% of the time it's for dead links.

The explanation he gave me was that he wanted to open them up so that others could submit it and thus maintain them in case they become dead links.

Of course, it would have been easier to have Ken give the links to someone else who would be wiling to take them on.  11,000 links now "lost", it may never be where it was before.

If we knew what films/profiles they were removed from, it would be easier to replace them...or at least the obvious links. But since we really have no idea, we'll need to check every profile and see what links need to be re-added.

I have seen at least three instances where people have attempted to remove all of their posts and contributions from a forum. In all three instances I have seen over the years, the posts were always restored. In one instance immediately, after the person (a man in his 40's) spent from 11:00 pm to 6:00 am deleting every one of his posts.

This is the first time I have ever seen the site/forum owner decide to actually leave the posts deleted.

What is so suprising is that this is commericial (for profit) site.

They must truly not care about their business. I can't see any other explanation.

Actually it is out of respect for the person who did the deleting.  If Giga asks me to, I'll restore the posts in a minute.  Also, if he asks I'll be happy to transfer the deleted links to an admin account/another user account.

Ken this is not a question of respect for him or not, but a question of respect for all the other current and future users. In many of his post he had given technical help for the software, without his message these explications aren't available anymore.

This isn't like the majority of his post were ridicule way to boost his post count.

Yes, that's true and it's something I did consider.  I'm open to reconsidering this.  The post history isn't going anywhere, nor is the link history, so the restore can be done regardless of elapsed time.  Thoughts?
