| Posted: | | | | Good grief. Please send me IFOs, as usual. The General (cont'd) fields are anybody's guess. Nobody has suggested a pattern for when to expect them But when it happens, it is yummy, cause you get some cast, the director and at least one Genre and Media Co. By the way, what does PowerDVD or DVDdecrypter say or do? (Oh, you already said it plays OK, but do you have any other info tool? - we are all using basically the same techniques - but the big boys have more experience at catching the special cases). Did you save a copy of a prior release standalone? I wonder what the V1 scan does? | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! | Posted: | | | | PowerDVD plays the disc with no problem... I took an image of the info that PowerDVD showed me and emailed it with the IFOs... DVD Decrypter I am still not completely sure how to use... But it didn't seem to read it too well Mode was greyed out so couldn't do anything with it.
Email is on the way. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Out of curiosity... I popped in disc 2 of the set to see if it did the same thing. Not exactly the same thing... I still see a load of titles (171 titles). But no error and they are not the same lengths... I do see some in the 20 odd min areas for the episodes in this case.
EDIT: It seems I am getting a load of title on every disc I pop in on this new version. I just popped in a disc of Ghost Whisperer which has 3 episodes and 4 extras... and that gave me 62 titles. | | | Pete | | | Last edited: by Addicted2DVD |

| Posted: | | | | I just popped in a single movie only disc... no extras what so ever (not even bonus trailers)... and that read fine... only the one title. | | | Pete |

Don't panic. A "title" is a totally arbitrary designation that is used by a disc author in just about any way he or she chooses. I didn't make any changes to the IFO scanners, just made the V1 button invisible. The main changes to the new version had to do with the way it creates a profile within DVDP. If you are certain that there is a major difference in the scan between this version and the last, I would appreciate it if you could download the prior version and run the standalone to verify that it is happening. There should be no difference. If there is, something else is going on, and I would have to look at my code library to figure it out. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. | Posted: | | | | I downloaded 1.15.... shows same amount of titles for all checked discs. So it seems the problem is only with the one disc that gave the error of too many titles (Scrubs: Season 9 Disc 1). | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | After needing some time for non-DVDp reasons, I wanted to restart checking how to get the error out of the way as I reported a few pages ago. Saw the notes on the new version and the remarks on Windows Media Player.
Installing v1.18 led to the same errors, like Class not registered. Re-installing WMP made the application appear. So I can confirm that also on my system it's the presence / absence of WMP that makes the difference. Didn't change the errors on the database query plug-in though, but that is for another thread. Which of course leaves the question which Class(es) .NET secretly uses that requires the installed WMP. Weird, since Microsoft purposefully made WMP an optional item...
Now I de-installed WMP in the past because it kept scanning my system (many TB with many GB of music), adding cover scans, library lists etc, IOW all sort of background things, read: performance eaters, I could well do without. Sure enough, it started scanning again. Anyone knows how to stop that behaviour? Couldn't see it in the WMP Preferences...
There are fine alternatives to WMP like VLC and others, so WMP is now only there because of this plug-in...
Before I'm misunderstood: I consider this Microsoft's error, not mediadogg's. It just the sort of thing we stumbled across... | | | Eric

| Posted: | | | | Your follow-up is truly appreciated. Maybe there is a way that I can make WMP optional. I will look into it.
I am in fact explicitly using WMP internally, as one of the embedded players. I'm certain that I could put in an option to use the player or not, but the code libraries would likely still be needed for the plugin to load. It may require a completely separately compiled version, that does not depend on those libraries.
If you go into WMP settings for Library, I believe that you can turn off the scanning (maybe called sharing). You will probably have to do it periodically, as I think Microsoft resets some things after certain updates. (Edit: seems like this clue lead to some fruitful research and a solution.) | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! | Posted: | | | | Well I tried from within WMP (it is about 'sync libraries') and couldn't get it to stop. Grinding through the WMP help and then the 'Microsoft Answers' I came across this (especially the second post by 'raptorcruz'). I disabled the WMP syncing service (I like the way it sounds like sink ) and replaced the files. IOW that worked. For anybody who's interested, see the link. | | | Eric

| Posted: | | | | just checked out 1.18 for the first time and my request seemed to work well. The only problem is the disc I was using is very crude... its a manufacture on demand disc with poor disc authoring. DVDPca changed the title of my profile to the disc title... WB_DVD. I quickly realized and went back to fix, but I am thinking for existing profiles, maybe it should not try to rename the title, since if the profile was already created, the creator would have had to put the title in when manually entering it. Thanks for the awesome tool, saved me a ton of time again. Hopefully soon I am going to test it out using something more complex or modern... right now I am working through my backlog of Warner Archive Hanna-Barbera MOD titles that none are in the DB.
Thanks! | | | -JoN |

Thanks! Actually I thought of that and forgot. I absolutely agree - my intention was to change disc info only for existing profiles. I will definitely resolve that in the next release (please don't hesitate to remind me if I forget.) Edit: Darn, I just realized that I have totally forgotten to release the last two fixes (the missing folder and the Scrubs thing ... ). So, I can just work in your fix and get this thing updated soon. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! - Fixed error when expected folder not found on BD disc - Added code to detect runaway DVD title scans on TV series discs. This does not happen often. - No longer updating Title when disc information is copied to an existing profile.
Please report any future errors promptly, and I will attempt to get them resolved. I want this tool to be trustworthy and reliable. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! BDPFrog. | | | Last edited: by mediadogg |
