Things are getting complicated...

Redfox, the maker of AnyDVD, simply vanished without a trace last month. That means that AnyDVD will no longer be updated. If you only need it for correcting the Disc ID in DVD Profiler, that may not be a big issue. But if you use it for its intended purpose - playing discs from any region, or other functions that rely on its decryption engine, you may want some other software that's being updated to cope with the latest discs.

So is there a replacement for AnyDVD? Sort of - but they don't seem to work with DVD Profiler. 

Xreveal looked promising. In its Status window, it displays the correct DVDID, both as old and new versions of Windows see it:

The problem is with DVD's, not Blu-rays. Blu-rays will always render the same Disc-ID, no matter which Windows-version or decryptor software.

Try it with a DVD instead, and I'm sure you'll get results similar to mine!

Yes. Aside from its cost, Passkey would be a good replacement for AnyDVD if you're only interested in its region free and decryption abilities. But it would be of no use for correcting the DVD IDs if you're a user of DVD Profiler.

As you can see from my post above, with Passkey loaded, DVD Profiler will read yet another (nonsense) DVD ID.

My licensed copy of AnyDVD has always given the WRONG Disc ID.
The way to get the correct Disc ID every time is to use the DVD Profiler "Add by DVD Disc ID" Plug-in by DJ Doena.

That's really strange. AnyDVD has always worked for me to correct the DVD IDs in Windows 10. Which version(s) of AnyDVD have you been using? Some very old ones may not have implemented the code to correct the DVD IDs.

For me it ALWAYS GIVES THE CORRECT Disc ID.
Once I have a Profile, with the correct Disc ID, I just edit the profile to be a UPC Profile (it keeps the correct Disc ID)

Yes, that is one way to do it.

I did not say the "Add by DVD Disc ID" Plug-in by DJ Doena was a cure all solution for the Disc ID problem internal to DVD Profiler. I did say  "it ALWAYS GIVES THE CORRECT DVD Disc ID".

Maybe if enough users  thank DJ Doena for his excellent plug-in, we can persuade him to add new features to the plug-in.

The only way I know to edit/correct "all the DVD Disc IDs" in a multi-disc profile, is to create dummy profiles for each disc, then to use the "BulkEdit" Plug-in by mediadogg to edit the multi-disc profile, then delete the dummy profiles. I personally have never taken the time to do this.

A word of caution, though. If you wish to use the plugin "Add by DVD Disc ID", you must disable AnyDVD, or else it will read incorrect IDs !!! That plugin is not compatible with AnyDVD.
