Today I just got another box set ("Polizeiinspektion 1: Die komplette Serie") and would love to create child profiles for each one of the 30 discs. But one disc (Staffel 9, Disc 3) is more than confusing:

I can play it with VLC-Player to find out the running time, but neither Windows nor DVD Profiler recognizes that there is a disc in drive. It might be more a question for VLC but maybe somebody has had similiar problems?

Do you use AnyDVD or DVDFab Passkey?

Have you tried Cyberlink PowerDVD or plugin DVDPca?

I only could solve it another way: Just connected an external drive and - wonder oh wonder - this one recognizes the discs. Still don't understand what happened, but at least it works now

And to answer: Don't use any of them.... I usually don't need them and adding more software I maybe need once a year (or once a life) is nto the way I like it

My issues I have with ID info .. is all my existing  ID's are constantly being updated from  the newer installed  drive in my upgraded store bought  PC.. over the CD/DVD drive installed over the one  I had  years ago ..

don't know why  but it appears if you change drives it read the ID's differently ..

Microsoft has changed the way Windows read DVD disc IDs so that would be expected if you bought a new PC recently.

Just FYI. I have been working with DJDoena on this. We pooled our ideas and coding, and there will be some tools rolling out over the next few weeks.

Here is a summary of what you can do today:

(1) To change the discID of a specific disc (if you know the correct one), use BulkEdit spreadsheet mode. Flag the profile. Tools>BulkEdit>Spreadsheet and Double click the Disc Information and discIDSideA or B, then Load Flagged. Update the discID, then Save Validated Changes.

(2) To change a discID profile, again using BulkEdit. First do step (1) to set the discID at the disc level. Then flag the profile and use Collection > Flagged > Clone to DiscID. This is a BulkEdit supplied menu that will use the disc level discID to create a discID profile clone. Minor glitch - you have to remember to preserve the Locality, otherwise it will be set to US (which you can change later if you forget.) You can then delete the original profile if you want to, and also you can choose to submit the cloned profile as a contribution, and also take care of any parent profiles that need to reflect the new discID.
