To get this back on topic and to answer Ken's post, one of the biggest drawbacks I see in the proposed "linking system" is all of the additional work we will all have to do. It seems to me that the additional cost in labor for the part-timers alone, is more than this is worth.

Another problem I see is that not even all of the "regular" users understand how this works because it's so complicated. How are we to expect the "average" user to grasp this easily and not foul up every entry they make?

I see nothing but a constant and endless stream of updates in addition to those we already see. With some individuals the credit is fairly evenly split between two different names. I suppose that persons films will never see an end to the back and forth contributions on those profiles because once the majority changes, they will all have to be changed again. Then when another of his\her films is released and the majority changes again, half will need to be changed again.

In short, I do not like this system. I want one where I don't have to chase an ever-moving target.

Ken mentioned that he felt consistency is key to the functionality of this system. Have any of us seen consistency in the contributions? There will always be someone who enters bogus or incorrect data and it will always have to be corrected. How many times will we see changes made because someone misunderstood and then others make "corrections" based on that incorrect data?

There has to be a better way than to have us all chasing our tails.

I would rather have a system which uses a persons full name as a linking point. An average or common name will always change, but if we add all the credited as variants together we will have steady source.
