| Posted: | | | | Hi ppl! I have a problem! For months, I've been debating whether to go Blu or HD DVD, so decided to wait till the Sammy dual player came out, this now seems to be never! lol. So I went ahead and bought a Sony DVP-NS78 Upscaler to accompany my newly acquired Panasonic TH42PZ70 (luvly jubbly! ). However, I've been reading that the TV's do a pretty good upscale themselves without the need for the upscaling DVD players, I'm currently running through a scart from a normal non-upscaling player, it looks ok to me, but I'm not sure what difference an upscaling DVD player will make. I'm really holding out for the HD sources to be honest. So my question is, should I bother unpacking this sony when it comes from Amazon and just send it back or should I just keep it for the sake of 50 quid and hope that it does a better job. Bear in mind, as soon as I open the package, I'm not going to be able to return it! Cheers for all your help in advance. Any good advice you guys could offer would be awesome! Many thanks Jonathan | | | "What a pathetic excuse for a DVD collection" |

Many thanks Jonathan Keep it! I have the NC85H (the 5-disc carousel model) and it does a superb job. It pumps all my DVDs up to 1080i, which is as high as my HDTV goes, so its a perfect match. The difference between that and my old Kenwood standard DVD player is like night and day. When I finally add HD-DVD to my setup it will be via an HD-DVDrom drive in the computer (my new PC has HDMI outputs), so I will end up getting into HD a lot cheaper than most. | | | John
