I would only use H./B./Halicki as a common name if it was his commonly credited as name.

If not then I would use H./B. "Toby"/Halicki

I took a look and it seems he is already in the database with both names.  H./B./Halicki being the most common according to the lookup tool.  So I'd use that and give him a "credited as" H. B. "Toby" Halicki.

H.B./"Toby"/Halicki, as his middle name was "Toby" and not "Blight Toby".

If an actor's credited name includes a nickname, highlighted by ", ’ or ( ), list it in the middle name field.

And as his name is written as H.B. "Toby" Halicki and not as H. "B. Toby" Halicki, his middle name was just "Toby".

"Blight" is definitely not part of his first name! Nor is H.B. his first name.

Agree with this if the CLT stats quoted above are correct.

just because a nickname is entered into the middle name field it does not make it a middle name, its still a nickname.

His nickname is Toby, his middle name is Blight and is first name is Henry and his last name is Halicki. Only thing that changes that is if you can prove that Henry Blight is a double barreled first name. if not we have two pieces of data that would get parsed into the middle name field.

however this is all a non issue because as the CLT stands no (providing what was stated above is correct) then the most common credited form is H. B. Halicki which would be  H./B./Halicki

Personally, this is why I loathe the rule about putting nicknames in the middle name field.  I believe there should be separate fields for nicknames and honorifics (Dr., Father, General, etc.), since none of these are part of a person's actual "name."

The poll is about parsing an as credited name not about a common or actual name. I think it's confusing to have both the nickname and the middle name in the middle name field, because it suggests they belong together. That's why I would separate them. If however H./B./Halicki is in fact his common name then we could enter the whole credited as name in the appropriate field and we would not have anything to worry about.

Martin:

Don't bring up side issues that offer nothing. With all due respect we would all agree that a Nickname field would be helpful. But we don't have one nor can we create one, Ken can but that's a different story. For now we have what we have and CLT aside that would be Initial/ Initial "nickname"/Name. The CLT as indicated by Hal may provide another possibility, it also might not, in this case it does seem to.
