I am trying to understand the correct way to add box sets to my collection.

After reading the posts here I understand that when you add a box set it does not download the clild profiles.  However, Even if I add in child profiles before the box set is added DVD Profiler  still does not detect the clild profiles and I have to manually link the cliends to the parent even if when I use "On Line > Refreash DVDs from Invelos > Preview Changes" and the on-line version shows the correct clild UPCs and I select "accept all changes".  It seems to that child infomation is not downloaded as part of the parent profile even if I refreash the parent profile a second time.

An example of one set I tried is "The Alien Legacy" (086162104398).  Even if I add all 4 DVDs before the partent profile they are not linked to the parent automatically even though it appears the profile already has them listed.

Is this the correct behaviour?

If this is not then what are the correct steps for adding in the client and parent profiles so they are linked correctly?

Thanks

you need to edit the parent profile and then go to the 'box sets' option on the LHS of the screen. (I don't have the app at work so I can't check the name..)

if you select that option then you get a full list of all the profiles you have on your pc on the LHS and an empty screen on the RHS.

Then just select the child profiles from the left hand column and add them to the right - then you will get the contents of the box showing as 'contained' within the master

Thank you for the answers.

I got confused becuase the profile on-line had the UPCs for the child items listed and it kept making me think if I refreashed the parent from the on-line copy with the child items in my listing it would link them.

Nope, you still have to download them and attach them to your parent profile manually.  The on-line listing will tell you that children are available and what Disc ID or UPC/EAN you need to download and attach, using the methond Paul describes above.

IMO this should be handled differently. This is probably the number one cause of why people submit child details to the parent profile.

They've added the boxset parent profile to their collection and don't know anything about the child profiles, so they start "updating" the profile.

When you add a boxset parent to your collection, perhaps it could ask if you also want to download all the child profiles and link them together for you?

I've just added one that has about 20 child profiles. Now I have to do all the work of manually downloading all of them and linking them -- when the online DB already knows about them!

Actually the number one reason for this jmbox is failure to read the Rules first. Let's just jump into the deep end of the pool...you will drown.
