| Posted: | | | | Yes you can. The only prerequisite is that your scanner does the same as if were typing the numbers on a keyboard. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | if you purchase a barcode scanner, make shure it reads the barcode you need (DVD) UPC for region 1 or EAN for Region 2 like these: sample of the 2 barcodesif it scans these barcodes the barcode should be able to scan directly into your notepad or word processor and see this a keyboard input. When you are in dvdprofiler and you add by UPC (EAN) the barcode scans directly in to the entry field. | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. | Posted: | | | | I would like to use a declawed USB CueCat scanner to enter my DVDs collection into DVD Profiler. From what I've read, the modified scanner "automatically adds 'enter' to whatever you have scanned, creating a new line in a file or prompting a search to begin if you are using it with Amazon". Will this cause problems with DVD Profiler? Thanks.

Bart I use my declawed CueCat with no problems what-so-ever. | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

Bart My cuecat does that also and it is very annoying when adding a DVD with DVD Profiler (it doesn't let you choose which DVD locality you wish to download). However, the "enter key" should be disabled within DVD Profiler, but the program currently doesn't have this option. | | | Last edited: by Sebastien |

| Posted: | | | | I think my Cuecat has been declawed (cut a pin), but it doesn't always put an enter after scanning a bar-code. | | | Unfortunately, I can't use DVDprofiler at the moment due to lack of a Windows computer. |

From DVDP's point of view, everything comes from the keyboard! Just because you use a scanner, DVDP can't tell the difference between keycodes from the keyboard and the scanner. And, in some cases (including mine) when the scanner is connected with a keyboard wedge, neither can Windows or even the BIOS in your computer. So no, the enter key should NOT be disabled in DVDP - it should be disabled in your scanner! | | | The future is here. It's just not widely distributed yet. (William Gibson) |

| Posted: | | | | But all standard modified USB cuecats add an Enter after scanning. It is imposible to remove the Enter key. But preventing the Enter key to execute automatically the "Add DVD by UPC form" is possible and could easily be done as an option in DVD Profiler. |

| Posted: | | | | higher end scanners can be programmed to send characters in the beginning and end of the scan. This includes the enter key. If the cuecat does not add the enter before it is declawed i'm sure the declawing could be changed, or the scanner reprogrammed to not send the enter key

| Posted: | | | | I'll have to second many of the replies. I have a USB cuecat and it has given me little to no trouble. What little trouble it has given me was more on the print side than the device. |

| Posted: | | | | Hello all,
I have tested this software today, and I think I'l purchase it this week. There are many nice features, that wanted to have but wasn't able to find in freewares.
One thing that would be a great add on, is to be able to use the webcam as an UPC barcodes scanner (like Libra www.getlibra.com). Is there some plan to do that ? |

Bart Yes. An Enter is added after scanning. But since I only purchase Region 1 DVDs this isn't a problem for me as the default selection in DVD Profiler seems to be Region 1 (US) or at least it's always the first in the list when multiple regions are found. | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection | | | Last edited: by Bad Father |
