| Posted: | | | | Hi,
apparently the season 1 of Early Edition contains two "versions" of every episode. One with promo, one without. But the promo isn't another "title" on the disc. When I look at the disc with DVD Decrypter it shows me 8 titles for 4 episodes.
The pilot has either 44:30 or 45:02.
Which one is to be used for contribution purposes? | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | You should just contribute the runtime without the promo, since its actually not part of the show. The promos should just be added as special features. The promos were only used to advertise the episode coming up later in the week. | | | We're on a mission from God.

| Posted: | | | | This is a toughy. I'd say the one without the Promo gets submitted. Reason being, normally during airing of an episode, the promo would be shown at the end of the episode to give viewers a sneak-peak of the following week's episode. The Promos are not actually part of the Episode. Many TV series have the episode promos as a seperate feature but this is the first I've seen where a distributor actually included the episodes with and without them. | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

But I don't know if that rule is really applyable in this case, because the episode itself isn't different at all. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

But, technically, it's correct. | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

| Posted: | | | | btw: The runtime on the cover is given as "Approx. 17 hours, 11 minutes", that are 1031 minutes. And that's exactly the runtime of the episodes without the promo (17h 11m 28s). The runtime with the promos would be approx. 23 episodes * 22 seconds = 8m 26s longer.
As this time (1031m) is already contributed, I've decided to do nothing at all. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

Yea, I looked for a 'running time' rule in the TV section first as I couldn't remember whether or not there was one. Since there isn't, I think we should default back to the standard rules. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | The thing is: these are not different cuts of the same TV episodes. So personally I don't think this rule would apply to this particular situation. |
