| Posted: | | | | Hi all, Opened DVD profiler on my Vista machine and there was nothing showing - no database. I have not moved it/deleted it Im sure, theres also nothing in the recycled bin either. I know it sits in the user/documents/DVD Profiler/, but what is the default database called and its extension, is it a dat file?
Only backed up six months ago, have a RAID5 array so dont back up that often. Gutted at the moment as I have not moved anything, at the moment Im blaming the kids. | | | Last edited: by Glugwine |

| Posted: | | | | If you have a default installation you should have a "DVD Profiler" folder in your "My Files" folder. There's a folder "Databases" and there again is a folder "Default".
Among other things there should be a collection.dat file, many other .dat and .idx files and an image folder. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | Open DVD Profiler File --> open database --> browse
browse to c:\users\username\documents\dvd profiler\databases\default
See if you can find a collection.dat file in that location. Select it, then click open. | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

Time to get the USB barcode scanner out You collection on-line has a lot of titles on it. I would download your on-line collection first before scanning all of it back in. |

Thanks guys just doing a backup now I'd recommend you do backups more often than 6 month intervals, regardless of your RAID array. If your DVD purchasing habits are anything like those of the rest of us, you probably got a fair number of new titles in the last 6 months. Re-scanniing around 800 DVDs would involve a significant amount effort. Glad to hear you didn't have to do it. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges. DVD Profiler user since June 15, 2001 |
