| Posted: | | | | I picked up Best Buy's releases of some television series that were packaged in lunch boxes. Because of the shape of the box, the scans don't fit within the traditional 500x700 paradigm and ended up being resized by the program with less than desirable results. I was wondering if there is a way to submit these so that they work a bit better. If I resize the width to 500 the rest of the image is too small by comparison to be useful. The only other solution I came up with would be to rotate the image sideways. The resulting scan of the lunch box would be sideways, but the overall quality would be significantly better. Is this permissible? Or does anyone have any suggestions for a better solution (I am still learning the ins and outs of how things work with Profiler, so I may have missed something really obvious ) |

Have you tried to resize the scanned box with another image editor (other than the built-in in DVD Profiler)? I don't have this set, but it came in an attache case. The cover scans are in landscape orientation as opposed to the standard portrait orientation of most DVD cases. There's not a whole lot of stuff on the front cover, and the back cover (as I recall) doesn't contain as much information as a normal case, but the information is there and is legible. I agree with what Skip says about using a dedicated photo editing software package instead of Profiler. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. In this case I reduced the image size to 37% of the original size, preserving the original ratios and as usual made sure the file sizes were within acceptable parameters (front and back were around 180-185kb each). It didn't fall below the magic 500 pixel limit though- I submitted it anyway on the off chance it might slip through, but it was re-sized internally. (I have seen a few scans that exceed the pixel limits) It's not a big deal, I just thought there might be a more elegant solution that I wasn't aware of. I'll either re-size myself and re-submit with a 500 pixel width (to correct the compression issues) or submit my landscape image as a portrait scan. kdh1949- I took a look at the Man from UNCLE scan (and it looks great), but it is small and most of the text on the back is unreadable (unless my eyes have really gotten that bad ). Thanks for the input and suggestions! |

| Posted: | | | | If you rather buy DVD or Blu-ray: this is a nice alternative dedicated photo editing software: GIMP GNU Image Manipulation Program | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions. |

| Posted: | | | | You're not limited to the 500x700 pixel width for your local database -- only when you contribute it to the master database does image size come into play. Most of the images I scan are in the 785x1100 pixelrange -- and they look fine in Profiler. You can read even the small print in most cases. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges?
