22 people voted yes.
It is not a box set, it is a 3 disk movie the existing disc submission is correct. |

| Posted: | | | | Yeah, this one struck me as a gray area since it was a television broadcast. We seem to allow both fully populated parents as well as optional child profiles for TV stuff. |

| Posted: | | | | my first ever red arrow received from voting no and quoting the rules. Watch out if you vote no with this user. The rules clearly state "Box Sets" Containing More Than One Film in the box set section. This profile is One Film (not more than) that spans 3 discs. | | | Corey | | | Last edited: by Katatonia |

Definitely an abuse of the system. Only my second. Got 1 in a political discussion for stating my opinion (I guess somebody didn't like it) but still an abuse of the system. |

| Posted: | | | | I think this was shown as a mini series in the UK (though I'm not 100% sure) i take it in the states it was broadcast as one complete film. |

| Posted: | | | | No, it was shown over three nights, but it was a single production of about 4.5 hrs that was divided into three separate nights, basically a three part movie. As far as I know, you cannot purchase part 1,2, or 3 individually. That is because it was a single production. The Movie has a single intro on disk 1 and a single end credit on disk 3. To watch any single disk without the context of the others would just be incomplete.
Per the rules, a box set is more than 1 film. Dune is one film divided into 3 parts. | | | Last edited: by CharlieM |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting TV Series on DVD Rules: Quote: Individual profiles for each disc may be submitted if desired, but this is not required. Add these profiles to the box set contents of the parent profile. I was about to vote no, but then I read this portion of the rules. Seems to me that this is a valid contribution. |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting CharlieM: Quote: The Movie has a single intro on disk 1 and a single end credit on disk 3. Exactly. It simply spans three discs due to the space limitations of the DVD format. It is certainly not "multiple films" by themselves per disc to qualify as a box set. If they meant it to be three seperate films, there would be credits on each disc, and there aren't. Quoting Angmar: Quote: I was about to vote no, but then I read this portion of the rules. I was about to vote no, but then I read this portion of the rules. Seems to me that this is a valid contribution. A TV Series is like Charmed Season 1 or Stargate SG-1 season 9. Those would be TV series. This would loosely be called a mini series, but more accurately called a 4.5hr made for TV movie. |

| Posted: | | | | I agree Charlie, this is not a Boxset under the Rules, except for twisting them. Your logic is 100% correct. Dune was a made-for-TV movie, NOT a series.

| Posted: | | | | I agree that this shouldn't be a boxset.
However, isn't this actually a mini-series and NOT a movie?
I wouldn't have a problem with someone creating child profiles as long as they weren't stripping the parent profile of information too. |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting Giga Wizard: Quote: sometimes the credits are cut away or not complete, anyway this is DVD profiler. And that Dune is clearly not a movie. So this would stand: TV Series on DVD <- weblink to rules Disc-level Profiles
Quote: Individual profiles for each disc may be submitted if desired, but this is not required so a No vote would be against these rules It's not a TV series though, and the rules state this at the top: Quote: TV Series on DVD come in 2 separate types:
Complete Series/Season sets Anthologies of Episodes that do not form a complete series or season. Dune is not a complete Series/Season set. It is also not an anthology (or best of) of episodes from a season or series. It also does not match how it was originally aired on TV, as this release includes additional "never-before-seen" footage not included in the original release. There are no seperate credits on each disc. | | | Corey | | | Last edited: by Katatonia |

| Posted: | | | | SciFi Channel, which originally broadcasted it, characterizes it as a miniseries. However, if the individual parts have no separate sets of credits, I can't see how you could turn this into a a box set with a parent profile and child profiles. So I reckon this could be compared to the 2003 three-hour miniseries Battlestar Galactica, which as far as I know does not have child profiles in the Invelos database either. | | | Last edited: by dee1959jay |
