| Posted: | | | | When selecting to view contribution notes from within Profiler, the program launches Internet Explorer rather than the default browser (in my case Firefox).

| Posted: | | | | I would consider it a feature if the pattern was consistent, but it isn't, when contributing the program selects the correct browser. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

| Posted: | | | | That is because the little window "View Contributors" is in fact a IE window viewing some HTML and the "View contribution notes" link a HTML link... | | | |

| Posted: | | | | Yes I could, but I'm quite sure it's a violation of the ToS. And personally this does not bother me, since I seldom read those notes. | | | | | | Last edited: by CalInTheZone |

And one of the components is an ActiveX HTML window. This component uses the IE engine to show the HTML. It's basically a mini-IE. And when you click on a link it opens it's big brother and there's not much you can do about it. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

Internet Explorer supports JavaScript, and Opera. I admit that Patsa is right, I find it irritating too, when Internet Explorer starts to show a HTML page. | | | Don't confuse while the film is playing with when the film is played. | Posted: | | | | Why can't the dialogue box just open <default browser> to show the first page then rather than putting it in an internal window? I would feel a lot safer if I knew that it wasn't using MS malware. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

| Posted: | | | | If I understand correctly, there seems to be no way to change the manner in which the application-embedded HTML component 'handles' a click of a rendered hyperlink. It is a shame the used HTML component doesn't 'respect' the Default Browser that is configured in Windows.
Like Patsa mentioned, the DVD Profiler application *could* however possibly launch the Default Browser when choosing the "View Contributors" button of a profile, navigating to the "View Contributors" url on the Invelos server. For example, for Billy Elliot this would be: http://www.invelos.com/dvdpro/userinfo/ProfileContributors.aspx?UPC=5050582342611.4
When clicking hyperlinks in the resulting browser-window (for example the "View contribution notes" or "Site: click here to open" links), these links would then also open in the default browser that is configured in Windows.
Perhaps it would be a nice additional option to have in the DVD Profiler settings: whether to 1) use the embedded HTML component to render the "View Contributors" window/HTML, or 2) just launch the Default Browser to view the actual "View Contributors" HTML (seeing as the html code seems to rest / is produced on the Invelos website after all). | | | Cirrus, Socrates, particle, decibel, hurricane, dolphin, tulip. |

| Posted: | | | | It does launch the default browser sometimes....if you click on the headshot space, it brings up the Google Image search using your default (in my case, Firefox). I'd prefer that was implemented across the board since IE is so problematic. | | | "This movie has warped my fragile little mind." |

| Posted: | | | | Indeed gardibolt - doubleclicking the picture of a cast/crew member fires up the Default Browser that is configured in Windows. Here's hoping that the developers can somehow eliminate the forced use of IE from other areas in the application. | | | Cirrus, Socrates, particle, decibel, hurricane, dolphin, tulip. |
