| Posted: | | | | Hi,
I'm trying to enter a correction for the R1 'The Fifth Element' but keep getting turned down by many people because they disagree with how I have entered 'J.D. Dawodu' in the cast list.
He is credited as 'J.D. Dawodu' on the credits at the end of the movie (with NO space between the J. and the D.)
His most common form on the Credit Lookup tool is 'J.D. Dawodu'=15/38 [J. D. Dawodu=7/26]
Has he really got to be entered as J./D./Dawodu [J.D. Dawodu]??
I would appreciate your help in finding the way forward, Neil |

| Posted: | | | | Good luck with getting a concensus on this one! But seriously I think you may have a point. I've done a bit of searching online and it does seem he is always known as "J.D." so you may be right that "J.D." is a valid first name, not just his initials. Maybe adding a few links showing that he is known as "J.D." will help your case. Edit: but in general, I would usually split the two initials. The space that is displayed between the initials is a program limitation and shouldn't really be taken into consideration when adding a name to the database. | | | Last edited: by northbloke |

| Posted: | | | | The initials should by default parsed J/D/Dawodu unless proof his first name is J.D. is provided (the CLT is not proof, just a reference)
The common form in the CLT isn't really a factor because this is his only credited under either parsing.
I'm happy with the current parsing (J/D/D) and would prefer it be left alone. That said i couldn't vote against the change to J./D./Dawodu [J.D. Dawodu]. I don't like it but couldn't vote against it.
=====================
And to save you from getting another No vote from me on Stewart Harvey-Wilson [Stewart Harvey Wilson] let me point out most of the hyphenated (Harvey-Wilson) credits are for Fifth Element where he is credited without a hyphen. Given the errors in the CLT (we can factor those into our decisions) the As Credited name should remain without linking to the suspect (hyphenated) variant.
Thanks. | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! | | | Last edited: by tweeter |

| Posted: | | | | There was a thread before about this but i can't find it, it was about the credited as being used to enter space's between initials, I'm sure in that thread it was decided that if a name was parsed (just using this one as a example) J.D. Dawodu J. D. Dawodu these initials would parsed in the first and second name fields only if the credit was JD Dawodu would they go in the first name field |

J.D. Dawodu J. D. Dawodu these initials would parsed in the first and second name fields only if the credit was JD Dawodu would they go in the first name field I believe that's right; if there are no initials then I think we were presuming that "JD" was a first name. | | | "This movie has warped my fragile little mind." |

| Posted: | | | | Okay.
So if we're agreed that J./D./Dawodu is the way forward..
Do I still use 'Credited As' J.D. Dawodu or is this unnecessary?

Neil I would just enter it J./D./Dawodu and not use the credited as |

| Posted: | | | | I personally hate using Credited As for situations like that & wouldn't use it here.
Another one I've seen recently was "M. Blash [M Blash]". I've actually said "No" to the contribution as none of the credited as changes/additions have been backed up with regards to the CLT or if they're even the same people. |
