tried to add "Mademoiselle / Theodore Rex" to my collection but found that the UPC is already in the database with different movies "The Amy FisherStory / The Swap" but with the cover of "Prizz's Honor / The Little Shop of Horrors". The code on the scan is the same as on the cover of my movies.

I thought that the UPC code is unique. How is this handled?
If it is a misprint how do you find the correct code?

Hello,

this sometimes happens with bootlegged DVDs.
Maybe either the one you are trying to add or the one in the database is a bootleg

So far I never heard about 2 exactly same UPCs with official DVDs.

I've seen these - they're certainly not bootlegs. They're just from a rather "low-end" distributor here in The Netherlands, and they indeed have a tendency to re-use the same UPC's over and over again. There's nothing you can do about it: it's "first one in wins". You can only try to contribute your profile by disc ID.

I've also seen it happen with legitimate releases. I've got a US release from a "low-end" distributor to use T!M's term that is already in the database from the same distributor but for a different title. As he says it's first come, first served.

Me2, I have a DVD; EAN 7321940 018096 (Phantom Below), which I had to add using disc ID. The old profile with the same EAN (21 Gram) could be verified using the cover scans, so I just had accept it.

R4 Umbrella release of Deadly Blessing had to be added by Disc I.D. because it's UPC 3000000063293 shows the title to be another Umbrella release, Strange Report: Disc 5. Umbrella which is a very reputable company had/has/did have a tendency to release multiple titles with the same UPC.
