Not contributing so therefore don't care.

[...] I understand that we're meant to document this sort of change but surely there are limits? I would understand if I was stating that John Bloggs was credited as Nicole deBoer. But having to provide doumentation to show a space in a name, a lowercase letter or a misspelled name is taking things to the extreme. Fully agreed! Quote: It seems to me that the person who voted no would rather keep the existing cast list (which is wrong) than accept a contribution that doesn't have reams of (pointless to me at least) documentation. I've been stunned by that behaviour before, indeed - it's unbelievable. |

I don't think you are a lone voice on this matter. Is it possible for you to provide a couple of webpages in your notes to shown how the actors names are to be spelt ie:-
Emilie de Raven http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0211087/ http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Claire_Littleton http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emilie_de_Ravin
this would allow both the screeners and voters to see where you are getting the results from, but like you I have found people how have copied their contributions directly from that other site and then voted No to the actual credits.

| Posted: | | | | I am this lone no vote.
My issue is nothing to do with the space of DeBoer or LaPlace... but the rest of the common names used?... I am not familiar with many cast crew names... especially barley known or unknown people... so for...
- Bryce Hodgson is credited as Bryce Hodgeson I don't know this name... How do I know it is spelt Hodgson and not Hodgeson without documentation to check? No I am just asked to trust. - Christopher Masterson is credited as Chris Masterson Don't know the person... though this is probable... how do I know for sure Chris and Christopher is the same person... could be father son actors out there for all I know... though I would have probably let that one slip. - Ken Camroux is credited as Ken Camroux-Taylor Never heard of this person... no idea this is the same person without some documentation
What am I supposed to do? blindly vote yes when I have no idea if this is really correct or not? I do believe in being realistic but just a claim that basically says I did the work trust me is not any help.
He says he researched this on the net first... Well then I say show me the websites so I can vote correctly... you were there to check it... so copy the addresses and show them to me so I can be confident in my voting. Besides that... that is what the rules tells us when contributing... Especially for credits. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | I belive his issue is that you try to create common names where none might be necessary.
Why don't you simply change the names as to what they show on screen without the usage of a common name - as long as you can prove a common name is necessary?
As I am just watching DS9's seventh season, Nicole is credited as NICOLE deBOER here which would also translate to Nicole deBoer -> the same way she was credited in Dead Zone. So why the need for a Nicole DeBoer common name? | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | It has nothing to do with what I would rather do. I never go into the voting page wanting to vote no. But once again... I do not know these people. you say there was misspellings so you used the credited as... but you did not support this in your notes so I know they are misspellings. You said in your notes... Quote: CORRECTED: Actors Names and Roles to match credits exactly - or utilising Credited As (to show mispelt names and spaces, et. LaPlaca to La Placa).
Information taken from box/disc/credits in accordance with contribution rules. Verified using Power DVD and DVD Decrypter. Any use of Credited As has been researched on the internet and then supported by the Credit Lookup Tool. and left it as that... no documentation that these were really misspellings... just that you researched it. And you knew the rules were to document the changes... so how hard is it to add those pages you researched it on to the notes... this way you would be compliant to the rules and for those of us that don't know the people can look and see that it really is a misspelling? | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting DJ Doena: Quote: So why the need for a Nicole DeBoer common name? Because the contribution system simply doesn't allow "deBoer" - there really is no other way to have the online database reflect that actual on-screen credit. All in all, I feel it's a really sad thing that this community forces Pantheon to keep his (absolutely correct!) data local. Just a few more people that give up and we'll have no cast/crew contributors left... | | | Last edited: by T!M |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting Pantheon: Quote: . I just wanted to quote here, but another one deleting posts at the same time and the quote turns up like this I can understand to stay away from the forums, but deleting posts is just wrong My 2 cents I wanted to throw in here: Nicole deBoer is actually the one I would use CreditedAs for, as only the capitalization is different here. And the next time when someone contributes this name in the other way to another profile, the online database changes again, and you will loose again the "on-screen" version of this credit in the main database (which is not case-sensitive). But with you deleting your posts, my remark doesn't make much sense anymore | | |

Deleting ALL my posts as Giga did is wrong, I agree. However, deleting a topic that you have since decided is not worth worrying about is hardly a crime. I simply decided that this issue is not worth getting bent out of shape over. I'm NOT contributing the profile again so it really makes no difference. Some people are now aware that their profile is wrong according to the credits - if they want to correct it that's up to them. | | | Last edited: by Pantheon |

| Posted: | | | | It is not something I am happy about. But I will not vote against the rules or Ken's statements here or anywhere else on this site. He refused to document for added common names. And I am not talking about the parsings... but what he said was misspellings. I don't know these people... so there is no way I could know this for a fact. But he couldn't be bothered with documenting what HE seen as obvious. as he said in part of the resubmittal that he was going to put through... see here: Quote: Addicted objected to my lack of documentation for the below changes. The contribution was rejected. Given that the below changes are simple and obvious I cannot be bothered to list all documentation. However, I am supplying the information so that people can change it for themselves if they so wish. So even though I am not happy about it... I do not blame myself for it that is for sure. Just because it is something that seemed obvious to him don't mean it is obvious to everyone. If we don't know who the people are it is not obvious and needs to be documented. I personally would even use documentation for the superstars that do seem obvious to me... because I know that just because I know them don't mean everyone does. | | | Pete |
