| Posted: | | | | Just came across this credit on Lord of Illusions (027616629425)
I could argue either side of this. Rules don't address it, what does everyone else think/feel?
Here's a screengrab to help you decide: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/bigdaddyhorse/PDVD_014.jpg
For what it's worth, existing is "writer". | | | Last edited: by bigdaddyhorse |

| Posted: | | | | I would enter it as Screenwriter. For me, 'Written for the screen' is not the same as 'Written by'. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | So the old rule that a Screenwriter credit in DVDP can only be used in combination with an Original Material By credit (so only if it's adapted from another medium) no longer applies?
As I recall, this used to be in the Contribution Rules, but this is no longer the case. Correct? |

As I recall, this used to be in the Contribution Rules, but this is no longer the case. Correct? That note was removed, which is a good thing since it wasn't always the case that one would find a screenwriter credit with an OMB credit. Occasionally the OMB isn't listed. I think that's the case with 2001: A Space Odyssey and I know I've seen other instances of it. | | | ...James

I can't recall if this was based on one of the Books of Blood stories or is a whole new story just for the movie, been too long since reading those. There are no other writing credits, so I know it is all Barker's and either way would be original story and written for the screen by him. |

| Posted: | | | | If I remember rightly the character Harry d'Amour is an existing character from Clive Barker's books but the story of Lord of Illusions was original to the film. |

| Posted: | | | | I would also use Screenwriter, since "Written for the Screen," usually means that the writer adapted it from another medium, such as a book or play. In the those cases we would use Screenwriter. I just think of "Written for the Screen" as a fancy term for Screenwriter, that someone in Hollywood came up with. As Skip would say, "You've gotta love Hollywood." | | | We're on a mission from God.
