| Posted: | | | | I'd like to know how you all feel about the following:
For a TV-show that runs for multiple seasons you can usually buy the season boxes at one time or another. In this particuler case my question is about Alias The complete first Series (but it could of course regard any other TV-Show which is why I'm asking the question in general here, after checking that the contributor was OK with that)
The profile I have (5017188888752, locality UK) now lists as the title "Alias: The Complete First Series". In the recently contributed profile, the contributor suggests adding as Original Title : "Alias: The Complete First Season" because the show originated in the US and that's the title it was released under in the US.
To me that doesn't feel right (even though I can follow the contributor's logic). Any opinions?
Cheers , Steve |

Cheers , Steve That is down to the fact that the US use Season..whereas here in the UK we tend to use Series. Not to difficult Steve |

| Posted: | | | | I've always thought that contributor was nothing but a trouble-maker! I suggested that the original title be kept to simply "Alias". The TV series itself wasn't called "The Complete First Season" so I don't think we can really justify adding it to the original title. |

| Posted: | | | | I personally wouldn't allow that change. Reading the rules for Original Title, a line says - Quote: Use the title from the film's credits. Following that, if it doesn't have Season in the credits, it shouldn't be added to the OT field. |

I would agree, if it weren't for that option: When I show title it looks like this: When I switch to original title it looks like this: It would look a bit strange if it would only show "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" n times. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | Needless to say, I agree with north and forget. It is unfortunate that this causes confusion when you use the OT field as your title format but, until the exception is changed in the TV rules, it isn't allowed. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. Clearly, that doesn't work. Since "display by original title" is such a basic feature of the program, I have a very hard time believing that this is the intended way of handling. Here are a few 'Miami Vice' seasons from my own database, PLUS the movie remake - you can't even see which is which: Because of this, I feel the season indicator simply has to be part of the original title (if an OT is added at all, that is). IMHO, this should be solved with a simple, yet clear addition to the "TV Shows on DVD"-page of the rules. | | | Last edited: by T!M |

| Posted: | | | | I agree with T!M here. Having the same entry over and over again simply makes no sense at all. So amend the rules to allow for OT season/series indicators, I would say. |

I have no problem with this rule being ammended in the TV section. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | The rules definitely need to be amended in the TV Section for this... because I agree with Unicus that as the rules are written now you can't have the season indicator in the OT field. | | | Pete |
