| Posted: | | | | When did the parent child disc start for TV seasons? This is wrong, yu can not buy these discs individually, so why are we entering 1 disc for each? I can not buy season 1 disc 1 at any store? This is also completely throwing of the collection count, it now add more disc then it should. If the discs can be bought separately then I can understand this thinking. MAD CAZZIE | | | visit me at www.disneybythenumbers.com |

It's an easy solution...don't add them to your collection! You certainly don't have to. |

| Posted: | | | | It is possible to buy separate discs for some and it makes it easier to track by Disc when a disc is placed into the computer.
You can do like I do and edit the profiles for the children and remove the collection number - or simply delete the children. |

| Posted: | | | | It is allowed in the rules, but you are not required to download them if you don't want to use them.
Full details are allowed in the parent profile for TV series. Should you find missing info in a parent profile which is available in child profiles, you can temporarily download the children. Add the missing info to the parent, and remove the children again. You can even contribute this to the online, provided you specified where you got the info from. | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

I was thinking some time in '07...but you are correct, nobody has to download them, it is just an option. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. It is the child profiles that are allowed. All information must be placed in the parent...for contribution purposes. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. CAZZIE First off cazzie as has been noted repeatedly, it depends on what you want to do or even count. Even a boxset of films will throw off your count in some way ot other. The Program does not, contrary to the name of the field, cound DVDs, or even titles, it counts PROFILES. But let's look at the specifics of your request in an extreme example. Some users do not want NINE years of Cast/Crew data for I Love Lucy crammed into a single Profile, Child profiles break up that data into smaller more manageable sections of information. A user who uses children col;d probably also specific location and cast and Crew data for a specific episode faster than can somebody trying to plow through 9 years worth of data. But you have the op[tion to do wahtever you want to do. This has been discussed several time over the yeare as have most things, yet you walk in here with 'tude. That is a little off-putting Cazzie. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | The first box set I have with child profiles with disc entries by disc ID has release date of May 11, 2000. I don't remember when the profiler started the parent/child relationship. I use them gor all the reasons stated. I too don't use the 'Collection Number' for child profiles, except for movies with UPC numbers.
I also have two sets of tags I use to delineate them. Box set tag with child tags of 'child', 'parent' and 'grandparent'; and TV tag with child tags of 'TV Series', 'Mini-series', 'Movies/plays' and "Misc"
Child profiles, 4277 TV series 365 TV mini-series 4815 all TV child profiles 1331 Non TV child profiles 6146 Total child profiles
Thus by double clicking on the TV and parent tags I can get a listing for all the movies (nonTV) for a total of 4246. | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own. | Posted: | | | | If you're concerned about the collection count, you can do what I do and go into Personal Information and uncheck the box for assigning a number for the child profile. There may be a way to do it as a batch, but I don't know. After you've removed the numbers for the children, then reassign the collection numbers and you have an accurate count that way. | | | "This movie has warped my fragile little mind." |

| Posted: | | | | I check Collection Number None when the child profile is created or moved to the owned list. The above numbers are for profiles not discs. I don't care how many discs I have, only the title, UPC, where I bought it and the cost. All rest the rest the DVD Profiler provides is nice and I enjoy when the profiles are correct. So will all you people stop bitching and just follow the rules. | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own. Ineptocracy, You got to love it. | Posted: | | | | Quoting CAZZIE98: Quote: This is also completely throwing of the collection count, it now add more disc then it should. So? I don't mean that sarcastically. What I mean is, who cares? I've long since moved past the mine is bigger than yours stage. So I don't really care about the count. Plus I only assign collection numbers to things that were purchased (a boxset gets a number, child profiles don't). So my collection number serves as my count of how many items I've purchased. But I really don't care about my profile count. It it what it is and it is thrown off by boxsets and other things. In fact, my profile count is around 50% larger than my highest collection number. It's meaningless. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. Create fake parent profiles to organize your collection. |
