Hi all,

I used DVDP 2.x until about 2005 then stopped adding my DVD's in when I went travelling for a year or so and just never got back into it.  Now I've got to catalog my DVDs for my home contents insurance and have upgraded to v3.5 - but I have no collection as my existing 2.x collection was on an old PC which I rebuilt as a server.  (I thought I had backups of it but can't find it anywhere on my NAS.)

The one thing I know I do still have is the legacy Intervocative online collection which has the majority of my DVDs - so my question is this: is there any way to export enough data from the old IV DPO web collection in order to do some sort of bulk import into DVDP v3.5?

I'm a .Net developer so am thinking if there is no easy way to do I could write a web-scraper app to scrape the data off the IV collection pages - but I'd need to know what info I'd need to be able to bulk import into v3.5 - and whether this is even possible?

I know this is a strange request but if I can avoid having to re-scan/enter my 600-odd DVD's into v3.5 I think it would be worth the effort.

Cheers,

Mike

I don't know if it'll work, but try the following:

Download DVDP2 from here: http://legacy.intervocative.com/Downloads.aspx

The try to download your collection with DVDP2 (via the Online menu).

Then backup it via the File menu.

Then start DVDP3 and restore the database via the File menu.

My first suggestion would have been DJ Doena's, just install v2.5 again and download your collection.

If that doesn't work any longer you could extract the UPCs from your old online collection navigation-frame and use the UPC-Import Plugin. In this way you would of course lose all personal data. But on the other hand I'm not sure of the extend v2.5 uploaded personal data in the first place, so that might not be a big issue here.

Supplemental: if http://www.intervocative.com/DVDCollection.aspx/nzmike is your old collection, I unfortunately see only 246 titels in "owned". Those UPCs with the locality-identifier are available under http://www.dvd-welt.de/privat/nzmike.txt ... 2 or 3 minutes tinkering with my trusty texteditor.
