| Posted: | | | | Good evening all. 1st off, I LOVE my Profiler. It's my one and only way to catalog my 4000 DVDs, LOVE IT. 2nd, I'm very happy to see there's a very active forum where we can chat and fix problems. I've recently bought a laptop to replace my dinosaur desktop (dinosaur = 5 years old, LOL) and I used my old Profiler .exe file to reload it onto the laptop. I think I got a note or pop up or something saying I had an older version of Pofiler. So, I downloaded the newer version, loaded up my old database and something weird happened.
1. I have mine set up as "View as Thumbnails." After reloading my database, 1/4 of my thumbnails are red in color. It's like a blank box with the title typed into it. Over on the right, in the preview screen, there's a large color perfect icon that looks like the front cover artwork, but on the left, red thumbnails.
2. The other problem, when I click on a red thumbnail and go up to "Refresh Profile and images," it says "tblCollection: Cannot modify a read-only dataset." and it won't allow me to do anything. |

| Posted: | | | | When you have your collection set for "View as Thumbnails", you will notice a button on the right top op the "Collection List" Window. Click on the down arrow of the button. This will reveal a menu. Select the "Rebuild Thumbnails" option.
If you still have your second problem after rebuilding the thumbnails, I'd suggest you run a database repair Tools --> Options --> Utilities --> Repair profiler database | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

| Posted: | | | | I appreciate the response.
I tried the "rebuild thumbnails" option and I got the error message, "DBISAM Engine Error # 11013 Access denied to table "Thumbnails."
Should I skip that and try the second thing you mentioned?
How about if I just erase the program and start over from scratch, try to reload my database after reinstalling? |

| Posted: | | | | I'd at least start with running a database repair. There's a fair chance it will solve your problem and only takes a few minutes.
If this fails, then I'd go for a restore from a previous backup. | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

If you don't know where that folder is: In DVD Profiler, select File -> Open Database. The dialog box will you show the folder paths of all your databases. 2) In Windows Explorer, select all the files in your database folder, then right-click and select Properties. 3) Uncheck the Read-only attribute (It should neither be checked, nor grey-checked). None of the database files should be read-only. 4) After you have done that, use the "Rebuild Thumbnails" command in DVD Profiler as previously suggested by another user. | | | Matthias |

| Posted: | | | | I checked all my backup files and under properties, none of them were ready only. the boxes were empty.
I tried the database repair option, it gave me so many errors, I couldn't write them all down and then shut me down.
I tried the rebuild thumbnails again, no dice.
Right now, I've conceded, I'm trying to figure a way to print out a list of all my movies, then I can delete any trace of Profiler and any databases I have and just start from scratch. |

| Posted: | | | | Have you tried to backup your current collection and then to restore that exact backup? | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

I wasn't talking about the backup files, I was talking about the files in your database folder. Each DVD Profiler database is stored in a separate folder, containing a number of *.dat, *.idx and *.blb files as well as an Images subfolder. Alternatively, DJ Doena's suggestion also seems like a good idea to try. Of course you should restore to a newly created database. And another thing you can try: Instead of backup/restore, create a new database and activate the checkbox "Copy existing database" while doing so. | | | Matthias | | | Last edited: by goodguy |
