I think I have discovered two titles in my library that report back to me in charts and graphs  that they were bought in 1990 and 1992 .. Well we all know that DVD's didn't come out till late 1997 .. so I have had a devil of a time trying to locate these including using the database query ..
Major problem is the sort by key gives two options sort by production year  and sort by DVD release date.. You'd think the latter would be best as I have kept my DVD release date up to date..
But when using sort by dvd release dates I'm getting the production years in decades from the 20's to 2009 ... ????
Is the sort by dvd release date just screwed up on my 3.5 profiler or is it universal??

Maybe I misunderstood you but when DVDP claims you bought them in 1990 then that's the purchase date not the release date.

Yes but the purchase date is a separate column and can be ordered by individually. The release date is when the DVD was made public in stores, not when you bought them.

perhaps you are not understanding widescreen. How could he have purchased a dvd in the 1990 or how could there be a dvd release date of the 1990?

DVDs were not around to 1997.. 1990 is earlier than this date.

I think Karsten understood Terry.
The problem here is that Terry explicitly is referring to the date of purchase by highlighting the "bought".
So either the OP is not entirely correct, or Terry is in fact filtering for the wrong data.
If the charts and graphs tell me that I bought a DVD at an impossible date, I'd filter for date of purchase and not for releasedate.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Exactly... !  ..

actually I think I have discovered the answer to proper way to sort.. under view colums- do not have production year sort ticked but to untick production and just leave in dvd tickbox release column.

turns out I had two Laserdisc programs (not available on DVD)  which I have had transferred over to DVD, ,and I accidently left the release dates  as 1990  and 1992 ..
