I can't see any way that this could be done automatically - so instead have an option which we can select ourselves to display a new icon. And then we just tick the option to say we own the IOS version in the settings to switch on the Icon.

If you go back and read the original post, I expressed the same concern that you have, that's when Ken responded with that he had something in mind and since he had previously eluded to the fact that tags would be forthcoming in a future version I took that to mean he was talking about the icon in the user CP.
