| Posted: | | | | I can sync fine when I determine the IP address of my PC and enter it into the settings prior to syncing, but is it possible to enter the PC name instead (like the caption for that field indicates)? That would allow me to use DHCP on the network settings for my PC and still guarantee a connection, even when the IP changes.
I've tried entering the PC's network name, but it isn't found. I tried entering \\PCName (which is standard for resolving PC's on Windows), but also no luck. Does anybody know what I should enter for the PC name so it's resolved, or is the ability to use a named PC not operational for the iPhone / Windows combination? |

| Posted: | | | | I have a fixed IP on my home network for both my PC and my iOS devices, only can sync by IP. Used to be able to sync by name but once that stopped working, I switched to IP and haven't changed it since - 'cause it works. Every time I did try, it failed - though it's been months since I've last tried. | | | Last edited: by Dr. Killpatient |

Same here. Same here as well. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand. The Centauri learned this lesson once. We will teach it to them again. Though it take a thousand years, we will be free. - Citizen G'Kar |

| Posted: | | | | mine syncs by name. But I run my own dns server, so all my machines can resolve ip addresses to names, including my local ones. | | | Home of the phpDVDProfiler forums |
