I have had trouble and no success opening the database. Yesterday I got the 9217 message and repair did not work. I reset machine and it did not give this message but I could still not open it. Today I got the 9217 message and still no joy. It had been working OK and I always backed up after a session. I was about to subscribe to the program as I had been using it for a month or so and I like it.
I thought I would download the program again and see what happened but it would not let me install it and gave an evaluation message as something it needed.

Any clues?

It's been a while since I have seen this one, and there have been varying answers to the fix. So let's pick things apart a bit. I assume that the backup(s) you have of your database are in a non-DVD Profiler related folder?

First thought: have any changes been made to your anti-virus software since you last ran the program? I don't know why exactly, but the owner/programmer has asked this question in the past on this particular error.

You say "it did not give this message but I could still not open it"  I will assume you mean the program ran, and only the database would not open at that point. But then you uninstalled the program and cannot reinstall. If that's the case, we can try to do our best at starting from scratch. This might get a little complicated or confusing:

Uninstall the program (if it partially installed and you are given the option). Then in Windows, run a Windows System Restore, loading a point from at least a few days ago. If you want to try to install again after this to test, fine, but if it still fails to install, it means going back through this process again.

Using Windows, go to "C:\Program Files\" (or "C:\Program Files (x86)\" if you are running a 64 bit version of Windows) and assuming it is still there, delete the "DVD Profiler" folder entirely. Again, I say this assuming you have stored/moved your backups to a completely different location.

Now go to your Documents folder ("C:\Users\[username]\Documents\" for Windows Vista/7, or "C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\" in Windows XP) and delete the entire "DVD Profiler" folder there as well.

Next (if you understand how, else it's better not to tinker with this one) go through the registry and remove all values that have "DVDProfiler" "DVD Profiler" and "Invelos" in them. (There are others, but this is safest.)

Reinstall DVD Profiler.

Without running Profiler yet, go through Windows and make a copy of your most recent database backup and set it aside (just in case.) Go to "Start -> Programs -> DVD Profiler" and click "Database Repair Utility." Find and run a full database repair on the most recent backup.

Now, try starting DVD Profiler and loading the backup by going to "File -> Restore Database..."

If any problems still remain, come back and we will try something else.
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you.

He who MUST get the last word in on a pointless, endless argument doesn't win. It makes him the bigger jerk.

Thanks for the reply. I will tackle this and see what happens. I just found this reply after I had sent another message(DVD Profiler from moviepas) and I guess the new one needs to be deleted now.

Will respond with what happens. I have not uninstalled the program as yet but a new download would not happen which I also tried again.

You mention anti-virus and I am having trouble with one and perhaps I need to tackle their reply first.
