Hello,

I've all my movies listed into DVD Profiler Desktop, and all of them put into iTunes also.

That way, for now, it's simple with an apple TV to play a movie.
But the apple TV doesn't give a search engine as powerful as the one provided into DVD Profiler for iOS

Hence my question:
Would it be possible to have in DVD profiler for iOS, per movie, a small button in order to play the movie on any apple TV found in the house ?

Technically speaking, it's possible to do it quite easily I guess, as other softs (not from the closed apple world) do that, like this one:
http://code.google.com/p/tunesremote-se/
(it uses the DACP protocol to communicate with iTunes and trigger some commands, like playing a movie on any Apple TV)

You'll see such the button I'm speaking about (the AirPlay button) at the bottom right of the snapshot provided on the homepage of tunes remote-se, which is:

Would be awesome to have this feature directly available into DVD Profiler for iOS

Thanks for your help

I doubt that will be possible. DVDP is meant to catalogue physical media. It uses its own database and doesn't access the iTunes library.

We could imagine that each movie stored in iTunes has its EAN (that exists in DVDProfiler),
that way, would be easy for DVDP to send a command to a local iTunes to play a movie with such EAN

I don't imagine that DVDP manages the library of iTunes, there're both 2 specific and different programs, but an iTunes can receive commands from the outside, and iTunes handles all the apple specific streaming to the apple TV

This would be a killer addition to the iOS app. Of course you can go to Apples Video app, and with home sharing turned on on your desktop Mac, see all of the movies you have loaded onto your computer and play them to your AppleTV from there. But the DVD Profiler iOS app includes so much more information about a movie you may by interested in viewing, before you choose to watch it. Since you would already be in the DVD Profiler app, it's only natural to want to be able to touch a movie from your database and have it play on your TV.
