In Features section I believe that we need to keep check boxes for filtering purposes, but Other Features field should be renamed, for example, to Detailed Information. Maximum character limit for that field should be removed simultaniously. Instead of using that field just to list extras that doesn't have their own check boxes, we could use it to enter as detailed information about extras as we like. Also as a complementary field for check boxes.

In this model if a release would contain for example, bonus trailers, commentary track, featurettes and music video, you would check all these boxes and in your own words describe them to Detailed Information field, something like:

- Trailers: Goodfellows, Die Hard and Ice Age
- Commentary by John Doe and Jane Doe
- Making of documentary, 13min
- Screen tests for John Doe (4min) and Jane Doe (3min)
- Music Video by John Doe
and so on...

This would be VERY easy to implement. Only program changes needed would be the field name change and max. character limit removal. Of course corresponding rule change should follow the change.

It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Why not keep Other Features and add Detailed Information as a new field? Otherwise we would get some profiles with old type info and some with new type info in that field.

Easier implementation for Ken and those two fields would be so close to each other (data vice) that I don't see the need.

"Old type info" would be completely valid after name change.

And this way we would avoid heated "conversations" whether the info belongs to Other Features or Detailed Information field

I'm not sure it would work since people can't even agree on what a simple episode list is. And what language should be used, local or always English?

That's just sad.

That's a rule question. My preference would be English since I buy discs from many localities and would like to understand the content of this field no matter of locality of that profile. My Swedish is much, much worse than my English  Bad English, the most spoken language in the world
On the other hand, we don't have any language rules for Other Features field eather.

Why is there a colon after "Trailers", but not after "Screen tests"? Why is there a running time for "Making of documentary" and "Screen tests", but not for "Trailers" and "Music Videos"?

It makes me chuckle when End Users justify the merits of a change based on how easy they think it is to make. For me, the change has merit or not, and the impact of the change mainly affects priorities and timing of the change, based on the effort.

Even what looks to be a small change, such as a field name, has ripple effects in the database, XML output, HTML sections, plugin API and reports for starters.

Unlimited field length would require major program changes to prevent errors, database and recovery changes, program performance on loading, and database repair logic, at least.

That's not to say your good idea shouln't be implemented, but I think one should be careful about presuming little impact on the program, web site, mobile apps, and the list goes on.

If your idea is deemed to have a lot of value, the program author will likely do it - just a matter of time.
