Okay, so this must be the only online forum on the planet that hasn't mentioned Covid-19 yet.

However, it's got me thinking if there're any movies that have tried to depict a similar sort of outbreak.  They're plenty of ones where everyone turns into a zombie or is equally weird, but I'm looking for something that's more realistic.  I'm pretty sure there are some examples, but nothing specific has come to mind.  Has anyone any suggestions?  I'm not having to self-isolate at the moment (I'm classed as a key worker in the UK so still out working as much as I can) and I'm not ill, but I suspect at some point I'll have a week or so to watch a lot of films in.

Just found this myself: Den of Geek

PS I'm not trying to trivialise what's going on now and I hope everyone here and those they know are safe and well.
Do you ever find yourself striving for perfection with an almost worthless attempt at it?  Guttermouth "Lemon Water".  Also, I include in my Profiler database VHS tapes, audio DVDs, audio books (digital, cassette and CD), video games (digital, DVD and CD) and 'enhanced' CDs with video tracks on them, as well as films and TV I've bought digitally.  So I'm an anarchist, deal with it.  Just be thankful I don't include most of my records and CDs etc in it too; don't think I haven't been tempted...

Yeah, not trying to hijack thread, but a good chance for users to express how they are affected by the Covid.

Myself, Here in New Zealand I work in IT for a Govt entity and so are working from home now.
I am lucky that I can do all my work from home via VPN. Also the wife is working from home so as not to bring anything home to me as I am currently undergoing chemo, and have a suppressed immune system.
Not cancer, but my immune system is taking a liking to eating my platelets.

So only get the same amount of time to watch movies etc. But save 2 hrs a day on travel.
But on the bright side am not one of the unlucky ones who now do not have a job.

Not a problem. Stay well.

Here in Illinois all non essential stores are closed for about 2 weeks. So stores like Best Buy is likely closed.

I would assume that stores that sell groceries too is still open, so Target is likely open as is Walmart.

And with new movies being delayed for months or even a year this will affect new releases for Blu-Ray in the Fall/ Christmas time. So that's going to suck.

But it is great to have a big collection to view at home.

Here in Kentucky, our non-essential stores are ordered to close tomorrow at 8 pm, so we'll either be doing some sort of curbside service or closing up for a while.  Guess we'll see how that goes.

Looking forward to watching some stuff, if nothing else.
If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

I live in southwest Germany, close to the French border.

I can work from home luckily.

The borders to France have been closed for over a week now and since last week there's a the restriction on what you can do outside your house / apt. You can only go to the doctor, to buy groceries or for a walk (with a dog).

All non-essential stores have closed (Somehow, home-improvement stores have been classified as essential).

You are allowed to take a walk but you can only do it with members of your household or one single other person (to avoid loneliness). And you are to keep a safety distance of 1.5-2 meters (5-7 foot) to any other person or group when being outside or in the store.

As I've been a loner for all my life, it doesn't bother me all that much except that now I actually buy food for a week where my usual routine would have been to go to the store after work and buy stuff for one or two days.

As I'm living in a small town surrounded by fields I can go for a walk for 2 hours and maybe encounter 5 people in total.

Same here.
I think the reasoning is that if someone owns a home and something breaks/fails that one can go and get a part and fix/replace it.
Surely if someones toilet stopped working you'd want to get it fixed asap and not have that for two weeks.

Now what is weird, one city here in the US has determined that liquor stores are essential and can stay open. Now that I don't get.

By the way, like that picture of the defunct railroad track.

I for one am going completely stir crazy. Most places are closed... I can't just walk out the house any more since I am disabled. And I am supposed to be able to get out of the house daily (according to my therapist) to off set major depression. She even called me this morning to see how I am managing it. Quite simply I'm not. Then find out I need to do my therapist appointment tomorrow over online chat.

The country is going into lock-down in ~48hrs.
Same as other countries, only allowed to Supermarkets, and Medical services. This is to last 4 weeks at this stage.
We now have over 100 cases confirmed, but no deaths yet.
What has kicked this off is that everyone returning to the country has to self isolate for 2 weeks. But a lot of people are just snubbing their noses at this and mingling with people. And as the first 60ish cases were from overseas people returning, this is the only way to stop the spread. We all suffer because of a few arrogant people.

Edit: Now at 155

Sweden hasn't gone into total lockdown (yet), but boomers like me (70+) are asked to stay home and have as little contact as possible.

So for introverts like me it's pretty much business as usual.

The last train left my town in 1980. The old train station is now a pub called "Old Station". ;-)

When I'm out and about these days it feels like I've blundered onto the set of a 28 Days Later reboot, and that's even before the new movement restrictions that were introduced in the UK last night.

I caught the 17:30 train from London Paddington to Bristol last night, after the four previous trains had all been cancelled.  At the best of times this train is normally packed and more often than not I've ended up standing on it.  Yesterday there were three other people in my carriage.  I have to confess that there is a small part of me that is actually enjoying some of the changes, as I spend the majority of my day on trains or buses.  (I also travelled the entire route of a bus yesterday between two Tesco stores, and not a single other person got on.  I caught a Docklands Light Railway train from Gallions Reach in East London and the entire, very large pedestrian area outside the station was disserted, except for a few cars driving past.  I seemed to be the only passenger waiting for a train at Milton Keyes (population almost 200,000) Central in the afternoon.  I could go on.  However, my trip across London in the petri dish that calls itself the Underground was in a carriage that was about half full; I guess people in London think they're too important to stay at home.)

(For the record I'm self-employed and spend most of my time moving food home delivery vehicles between stores, and stores and garages, hence the reason I'm still working and out and about.)

Stay safe and in good spirits people.

I love the train track picture too!

The one thing I really like about working from home is that you can take an hour-long lunch break at 2 PM and just take a walk (keeping your safe distance from other people of course). Usually I work in a huge industrial area where walking around is not that much fun.

This is the old train station. Unfortunately the pub seems to have closed and has taken the old sign with it:

The station has always been the end of the line but when I moved here in 2005 it still had the old tracks right in front of it. Now they removed them for about 400 meters (1/4 mile) for the new housing project that started a few years ago:

But we still have a bit of memory right in front of the station:
